Mexico's City Half MarathonBy El Yuca Descalzo This is the report for the Mexico City Half Marathon: July 27th 2014 Number 5125 and you can check the time here: http://www.emociondeportiva.com There’s really not much to say, the route was a little bit different in the city, it wasn’t as pretty as passed years but this time included some hills and crossing in a big park (Chapultepec park is the equivalent of central park in NY). The weather was excellent and everything was set to go! This time I felt I was ready to compete being BF, so far my longest BF distance was 15 Km in the trail where I train. I was a little worried because some streets were very harsh and abrasive but If you concentrate into apply a good technique all the way around you can be sure that there’s nothing to worry. The race started at 7am along with others thousands of people, as usual I was the only BF “insane” around, at least I didn’t saw anyone else, but I did saw a guy wearing Luna's. I decided to try to improve my best time from a few months ago, (you can check this post from the IBRD where I didn’t ran completely BF) and actually I did! At the end I was full of energy and motivated because I probe all the other people that’s possible, that you don’t need your shoes, that you don’t need your motion control devices and all that crap! Final Chip time 2:08:40, 8 minutes faster than a Few months ago, I know this is not an impressive time, and that I’m not going to win anything, but most important thing is that I’m improving and I’m a proud member of this society!! Advise: -For all those who are just starting to run BF 2, 3, 5km my advice is that don’t give up! Keep training, take it slow, I promise you will see the results in a near future, your body is made for that! -If you are considering to run a BF HM be sure that you can at least comfortably run 10k without any kind of trouble. -Have in mind at least 10 quick answers and comments for all those curious and for all the fools that call you crazy. Injury report: - A small piece of skin from my sole that was lift, no blood or pain, actually I can barely feel it with my hands, is only superficial on the first skin layer (still a lot of technique to improve). Next month is the City Marathon, I’m not sure if try it BF or a combination with VFF, let’s see where the wind takes me… Pictures of the finish line, were the only decent ones... Regards…
