Make sure you have this weekend in your diary!

The UK IBRD events are now confirmed as being in Hove Park, Brighton.

As last year, we will be combining our events with the Brighton Barefoot 5K & Mile, in conjunction with Minimal Sportswear (Barefoot Tracy Davenport)

Entry fee for the 5K is £9.50 and the Mile is £3.00. Both fees include a medal for all entrants and a goody bag, including free water. There will also be a 100m race for the kids. (Free entry.)

Please register here. (We politely request that all adult members who wish to run on this day please contribute the relevant entry fee, as these go towards the cost of hiring the park and the obligatory insurances etc.)

In conjunction with TrailBall® UK, we will also be staging a TrailBall® Golf Challenge. This will be a 3K time trial, with teams of three that will be required to navigate a course of six holes with a TrailBall®; with a prize awarded to the team which completes the course in the fastest time. This challenge will be free to enter and open to players of all ages and abilities.

We are also still looking for a volunteer to organise a Sensory Walk. (We are imagining someone knocking up some 2' square frames out of 1" timber, and then filling them with interesting materials to walk on - straw, gravel, sand, mud etc. I am sure there will be plenty of willing volunteers on the day to help set this up and clear away after!)

There will also be a few Trade Stands on the day displaying barefoot-running-related products and running gear.

    Getting there by public transport

    Buses 5, 5A, 5B, 55, 56, 59, 81E will get you to within five minutes of the park (www.buses.co.uk)

Trains run to Hove Station, which is only a ten minute run away.

    Getting there on foot

From the East or West, the Old Shoreham Road. Sackville Road from the South.

    Getting there by road

There is plenty of roadside parking around the park. There is also a commercial shopping centre (previously known as 'The Goldstone') opposite Hove Park, just south of the Old Shoreham Road.

Don't forget we are also having a Social Gathering (somewhere on the Seafront hopefully) on Saturday night, 7pm to 10pm!

Any other ideas and suggestions are welcomed below.

DON'T MISS OUT ON WHAT IS GOING TO BE A GREAT DAY! PLEASE RSVP ABOVE TO CONFIRM THAT YOU WILL BE JOINING US

Keep watching this space for updates.

Oh, and don't forget to order your teeshirt here: http://www.zazzle.co.uk/Barefootrunnerssoc

    Thank you,

    Paul

    Hi Guys,
Quick question (apologies if this is already covered somewhere else on the site):
Do we have to pre-register for the Brighton event, or can we just arrive on the morning of 3rd May, pay whatever entry fee is required and join the 5k run?
If pre-registration is a must -can you talk me through it please (baby steps if possible!). The above links seem to just take me to the Minimal Sportswear shopping website and if you follow the link from the relevant Runners World page the only events actually listed are the 1 mile sprint and the children's race.

Any help/suggestions/beginner level IT courses, etc... much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance...

    Hi Tedlet,

You can register on the day, but it would be good if you could pre-register.

Go to the Minimal Sportswear website and click on the links on the shopping page showing the silver medals. There is one for the 5K, one for the Mile and one for the kids race.

Then follow the instructions to pay

    See you there!

    Paul

    Hi Bare,

Basically, team of 3, 6 holes over ~3K route. Pass the TrailBall between members and through the holes in the right order in the fastest time. Easy and fun. Very relaxed rules :)

Teams will be formed on the day with spare runners as required

Looking forward to seeing you there.

    Paul

Here is the course for the ‪#‎TrailBall‬ Golf Tournament!

I reckon the course is 2km to 2.25km long - depending on the route you choose, and how many times you lose control of your TrailBall of course!

How fast will your team's time be?

Is anyone available to guide an experienced blind runner who would like to do the barefoot 5k on Sunday? She did last week's parkrun in 25 minutes and would be looking for someone of similar pace

    Just back from Brighton..
Thanks for organising it guys. Was good fun (despite the best efforts of the British weather!).
Great to see the kids taking part too -the future's bright...
