    Hello folks,

My name's Dave and I propose we encourage other South African barefoot and minimalist runners to join to SA Chapter of the Barefoot Runners Societs.

My ultimate goal is to have a barefoot convention in South Africa, where like-minded individuals can share experiences, discuss latest research and we can have a look at the latest in minimalist products.

I'll personally be sharing the link to this chapter on my facebook pages, The Barefoot Runner and Barefoot Running South Africa.

    Later,

    Dave

There are not many barefooters - I am not one of them. But there is a large and growing community of minimalist runners of which I am certainly one.

I remember seeing an Indian chap running in Arcadia colours, he ran Comrades barefoot for around 35km (I think that's what he said) and then slipped on a pair of FiveFingers.

I ran Comrades in my FiveFingers but ended up with acute tendonitis, despite a great build up to Comrades.

I have now started running in my Luna Sandals and occasionally slip them off to run completely barefoot. My feet are still very tender underneath and I'm confined to running on very smooth surfaces for now.

If anyone is interested in stepping up to help out Irma and the South Africa Chapter, please let me know.

Also, Dave and Claire and anyone else, be sure to add the South Africa Chapter's icon/link to your posting box. Just go into your Profile's Personal Details link and select the chapters you belong to in the Primary and Secondary Chapters check boxes. This will help you to visualize where others are from when you are on the site. Thanks.

I started with Luna's as well. I use them on sections of Comrades because some of the road is so bad. I used to use them for about 50% of my running when I first went barefoot but after a few months my soles got so hard they became unnecessary.

Hi all, haven't being on the site for awhile. I agree that the minimalist movement is growing in SA.
I have done some barefoot running and minimalist running.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to guide more people to this Forum? I have posted the link to my Facebook Page but don't see that anything significant has happened since then...
