That's wondeful. I like the color of the laces too. You're welcome! Merry Christmas!

 It seems so approproate to

It seems so approproate to start using new footwear with New Year.I did just that with my brand new huaraches from Invisible shoes.

First, I had to do some cutting. Steven from Invisible shoes send me a little bit bigger sandals that I ordered. He explains, that this is usual practice for all customers, to do some modifications if needed. Well, I need those "slippers" with perftect fit, so I cut the spare right out :)

I tried my pimped huaraches and they fit perfectly! So I take them for a little ride. 10k (6 miles) was my feat for today and after short stroll with bare feet yesterday that sound good enough.

My run was slow, almost an hour long, mostly on pavement, some easy trail and a bit of muddy road. They perfprmed exactly as I wanted. I did a small experiment with laces; with left one tied regulary and the right one more tight. Result: I did feel right lace rubbing my skin but huaraches feel more conected to the soles and running was more natural. But that rubbing sensation could be a problem on a longer distances, so I still prefer a little bit lighter tieing.

It was about 5 deegres celsius (40 F), humid with some drops of rain. Not to cold for exposing my feet, but with those 4mm of rubber it made quite a difference comparing to barefoot yesterday. I didn't feel almost any cold, except a part when rain drops were heavier and top of my feet became wet. But they dried quickly.

I plan to do about 10 runs with this huaraches in next 3 to 4 weeks. I would like to try different surfaces, weather, hills and dowhills, one longer run. This testing could be a lot of fun - I hope some serious winter will show up ang give as some snow :)

Happy feet to all and have a great year!

Some pics from today; first 3 are before, other 6 after the run.

I know what you mean, new shoes and already full of dirt! No worries, some rinsing with hot water and they are like new :)

Nice little Christmas gift

Nice little Christmas gift there from IS.

Testing

Testing continues...

Three weeks passed since I started testing my Invisible shoes and I manage to put on seven runs, mainly around 10K each. Yes, I should probably run more, I know, but I enjoyed every run a lot and I'm quite satisfied with that. Even though there is no real winter here! Midday temperatures are sometimes close to 10 degrees C (50 F), unusual for this time of year. It sounds like March, it feels like March, it must be March than? :)

Nevertheless, I manage to test some different kind of surfaces and temperatures - running early in the morning at -10 C (10 F), choosing dirt, gravel, offroads and wood trails to run.

On a real cold morning I combine my Injinji toesocks with huaraches and both prove great. If there is no rain or water near, I would probably dare to run in this on even colder days.

I find dirt trails to be most enjoyable to faster and fluid running, but real sharp gravel is great for concentration training. Sandy roads leaves small peebles between my sole and footwear; I had to stop more often and shaka my feet. I even tried wet grass and open field.

I was a little bit sceptic about tied knot in outer sole, but so far no damage or torns are reported. Soles looks like new after almost 100K. I can imagine putting several 1000 miles in that shoes without any problem.

I will try to do two or three more runs in last week of my testing. One steep hill is planned, also one longer run for at least 20K. If we'll be blessed with some snow that would put cherry on the top of the cake :)

Happy feet to all, write to you soon!

You know, people don't have

You know, people don't have to wear five-toed socks with their huaraches. You all can get a regular pair of wool socks (or even split-toed socks), and that would keep your toes warmer, as they can cuddle with one another better.

I did think that way, when the winter become more harsh. Will do in the future :)

 In my last post I

In my last post I mentioned, that I tried almost everythin with my huaraches except snow.

We had very dry Winter this year, no snow in December, no snow in January. It looked like Spring will be early...but few days ago my wish came through. We received first shipment of white dust from the sky :)

Well, 10 cm of fresh powder was enough, that I put on my Invisibles and head out for some winter delight. There was only one problem - cold. It was -10 degrees Celsius (14 F) and wind was blowing. Nevertheless, I sprint out to the road, heading for adventure.

I probably have some trained skills running on the slippery road from last several winters. I had nno problems with traction, huaraches performed well. I shortened my step as much as I could and cruise the snow path without problems. But after only five minutes the snow started to melt on my upper side of my feet. Wet skin become cold fast and no matter how fast I tried to run, I couldn't warm up my lower legs. I decided to turn back home. I returned with freezing cold feet, almost with no feel at all. Maybe socks would help just a little bit, I will try that next time.

Beware winter minimalist runners: it's fun to run with huaraches in fresh snow, but your feet can cool to fast. If you don' feel cold anymore, you're already in the danger zone. It's wothy to get frosbites just because you're stuborn :)

Final thought about Invisible shos: I own a pair of homemade huaraches almost two years. They are robust and I did several miles with them, even run couple of marathons and one ultra in the gravel. Then I forgot several months about them..And than I received my brand new cutom made pair from Steven of Invisible shoes! Old love came back, I tried to do as many miles than I could in as many different surfaces as possible. I did warm, cold, wet , rainy and snowy weather. I can honestly say, that huaraches are my first choice for running next to barefoot. Only in very cold and wet weather I will pick my Vivos or VFF. i love the simplicity (one piece of rubber and polyester lace) and 4mm is enough for outsole protection. It's actualy the maxximum I can bare :)

So, once more thanks to Steven and TJ, it was a fun month! I believe that 5.000 guarantee will stand - you wont see me wearing new pair anytime soon (at least not this year).

Happy running and give Invisible shoes a try! You will be hooked instantly :)
