Date: Sun 11/06/11 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM CST Hello Illinoisian Barefooters, Thought I'd introduce myself by organizing a run. So that's what I'm doing. If you'd like to join me on November 6th at 8am to run the Ravenswood Run course sans shoes and in the early winter instead of the spring, please come on down (or up or sideways depending on your home location). It'll start at Wilson and Hermitage and head south and then follow the normal race course - link here if you need it. Hope that worked. And I hope this is far enough in advance that a bunch of people can bare their soles for a little fun running. And now the intro part: I'm Marc, that username was already taken, and apparently MarcWasTakenSoThisIsMyUsername was too long so my current username is me being too clever but not that much. I've been barefoot for the last two weeks-ish (took Owen McCall's class and loved every second) - even at work, someone will surely notice and put the kibosh on it soon though. My expensive running shoes that were fit by a "professional" and that have given me a ton of blisters as well a friction burns are currently only being used on Sundays when I have to run heavy mileage that my feet aren't ready to do barefoot yet. Can't wait until I get to burn them but I know that this process takes time. Nearly done blabbing now. Anyway, hello everyone. I hope you can come out for a run and that this invitation finds you well. I look forward to meeting more of the lovely folks from this community. Best regards, Marc
Marc, Thanks for the invite to all the members! I live relatively close to the area and I'd definately enjoy going for a run with a fellow barefooter. I just hope that it's not too cold for my feet that weekend but count me in! Francisco
I figure it'll only be cold for 3.1 miles and then we can head over to City Provisions for coffee and free heat. Or we could bang on the door of O'Shannessey's Pub until they let us in for Bloody Marys and free heat. Marc
Hey Marc- Are you planning to run the Hot Chocolate on November 5th in Chicago? If so, would love to run with some like minded people. I dont want to be the only one out there without shoes. ;o)
Unfortunately I am not able to run the Hot Chocolate this year. Wish I could. But I can't since my wife would kill me. I've got an infant so I have to pick and choose my runs until he's a bit older.
You're absolutely right! 3.1 is really quick and I like the idea of going over to CP for coffee or something other than coffee since I really don't drink coffee that much. Maybe some hot chocolate!
Hey Starsky, I'll be running the Hot Chocolate this year. I'm just not sure if I'll go BF or VFF. It will be one of those calls I'll make the day of. I'll see if I get another BF buddy out there with us.
