Any ideas for International Barefoot Running Day? Iwas thinking meet up at a state park/forest or other nice park and have a cookout and group run. I think ideally we'd do this at a busy location to generate some interest in our group and maybe recruit some new chapter members! Any thoughts?
I'm kind of thinking Frank Brown Park might be a good option. I was there yesterday and there were plenty of people walking, running, cycling, and there's no fee to get in, unlike the state parks. If there is somewhere nearer to Destin or Ft Walton, whatever, then that's great too, I'm just not familiar with that area. Thoughts? I'd like to get this solidified in the next week or so, so that we can start advertising it!
Yeah that sounds great. I hate talking to strangers too, but there is a Friday Fest in Panama City on Friday May 4th and I'll probably try to hand some out there too. I can send you the powerpoint version or PDF if you want. May be easier to edit and such.
Can you guys fill this out and send it back or bring it with you? Thanks! http://thebarefootrunners.org/articles/ibrd-form.18
Well the meeting with Panhandle Runners went great. They were very friendly and welcoming, and open to the idea. They took it as an opportunity to learn about BFR and suggested we affiliate with them to help grow our numbers and reach out to other runners. They couldn't have been a nicer group. In fact, coincidentally, one of the leaders was giving a presentation on the Tarahumara indians, so it was a perfect night for me to join them. I'm going to participate in their events and such in the future and pass out flyers, etc during those events and also write an article for their next newsletter, so I think it will be a great partnership!
