Hello fellow Barefooters. I have taken on the role of President of the Ohio Chapter... Why? Because I enjoy running and I do not enjoy shoes! I have been running minimalist and barefoot since February of this year so I am new to this and was looking around for like-minded folks to run with and learn from. I attended a workshop recently with Barefoot Ken Bob and the group in attendance agreed that we should start a club, so "Naked Soles Barefoot Running Club" was born. We have only a few members and I was looking to find more people to join in on the fun... My search led me to this site and here we are. Please introduce yourselves and let me know where you are located so we can begin getting some fun runs together! I am located in Massillon Ohio. A few of us will be going on a short fun run on 6/24/10 at 8:00pm starting at Backlist Books in Downtown Massillon. Chris
Glad to see this group Glad to see this group starting up! I'm relatively new to BFR, but am loving it so far. I'm in Oxford, OH. Happy running. Brent

Greetings fellow Ohioans.New Greetings fellow Ohioans. New Akron based BF runner here... actually a new runner period. I'm 4+ months into what started for me as a BF walking, hiking, and running experiment and is quickly become a passion. I'm not sure if I am up for a group run as of yet... but someday. For now I am focusing on slow paced base training... and sorta feeling things out on my own. Anyway... just thought I'd say hello. S. Pimp.
Swedishpimple,I am glad Swedishpimple, I am glad you found your way here. Taking it slow is the best way to get started. Our Thursday meetup in Massillon is for experienced runners as well as those just getting started, so whenever you feel up to it, we meet at Backlist Books in Downtown Massillon every Thursday at 7pm. I look forward to meeting you. We also have a Facebook page called Naked Soles Barefoot Running Group. Keep it fun, -Chris

I use to joke that you could I use to joke that you could put sand paper in your shoes/VFFs and on the treadmill.
Been running in VFF's since Been running in VFF's since July. Live in Akron. My first race was the Race for the Cure 5K with a time of 25.57 and just ran the Towpath Marathon 10K with a time of 53.47. Going to run the run/walk on water this upcoming Sat. with a buddy that also runs in VFF's. Look forward to possibly hook up with any other minimalist/barefoot runners in the area. Mostly run the metropark trails in the Merriman Valley area, but looking to expand my horizons since runs are starting to get into the 6-7 mile range for the long runs.
Hey VFF.... welcome! It Hey VFF.... welcome! It sounds like we share stomping grounds in Akron. I live in one of the neighborhoods just off of Merriman Rd. S. Pimp.
Hi. My name is Chad and I've Hi. My name is Chad and I've been running in KSO's and doing a few barefoot miles for around a year and a half now. On an errant impulse, I ran the Glass City Marathon in my KSO's . . . and lived! I'm in the Perrysburg area and I run all over town. I've yet to see the runner pictured in the link below despite living across the street from the park where she allegedly runs. http://www.toledoblade.com/article/20100912/ART16/100919924 All I have to say is: that form doesn't look very comfortable to me! Ouch! Also, I've never run in the snow without Vibrams. Have you guys? 'Cause our Northwest Ohio winter is right around the corner and I don't want any of my hard earned calluses to schluff off during the long winter months. Anyway, glad to be a part of the movement! (comical militant fist pump!) -Chad
Welcome Chad! And I was Welcome Chad! And I was thinking the same thing about her form... Looks like some serious heel striking. uzzled:
Well, congrats anywho! I'm Well, congrats anywho! I'm sure if you set your mind to it, a marathon will be in your future as well.
Hi all Dr Who from the North Hi all Dr Who from the North Coast (Sandusky) I have been running barefoot for just over a month. This is rather addicting even in 26 degree weather. I haven't taken to public roads as yet but I'm working on getting my feet tough enough to take on some country roads. Learning how to relax and good form is a real challenge when you feel all the rough pavement and stones but I'm working at it. I have made a pr. of VFF want to bes from some toe socks but haven't run in them much yet I want to keep running barefoot as long as I can. Keep up the fight. Later. Dr Who
I'm in MI, but about 45 I'm in MI, but about 45 minutes north of the OH line by car.. and spend a fair amount of time in the Toledo area and also over near Youngstown (godkids and best friend live in Girard, and have "family" in Southington and Liberty as well). Newly back to running, but loving the barefoot thing, haven't hit outdoors yet as I don't have minimal shoes, and the snow is a bit scary, but I am planning on trying that tomorrow!
