    Hey Everyone!

I am an ITband recovery runner and have really enjoyed running barefoot. I have also been thinking about getting some Luna Sandals to run in because it gets a little hot on the sidewalk/pavement in midday! Any suggestions for Luna Sandals I am open to!

    Welcome Hank.

Is NickW the resident luna sandals expert?

Welcome to the group. Running barefoot and changing my form has helped and I almost dare say cured my IT band problems. Certainly go barefoot as much as possible and your feet can adapt to both hotter and colder temperatures. Sandals are a great backup though. I am a happy Unshoes customer, but I have not tried any other brands.

I wouldn't say I am an expert in them, they are just what I prefer to run in.

I think it really depends on you and what you prefer and how you are going to use the sandals. I really like Luna a lot, but the models are quite different. I really am liking the mono's for all around use. I can use them for general just getting around and then road running and then also on the trails. They are a go anywhere sandal. Kind of a middle ground if you will for uses. The venado is really good on road, but not so good on trail. Pacer, leadville, and oso's are all great on trails and give you a variety of choices for the type of trail use and protection needed. I personally wish the mono was offered in a thinner version (maybe 8-9mm instead of the 11-12mm) but as they mold to my feet and get broken in they get better so this is becoming less of a problem.

The Barefoot Run is low key. The coordinator's goal is to introduce people to the fun with minimum stress.

Thanks Nick for your insight on Luna sandals. I was thinking about the Mono's but I am hesitant because they seem a little thick. I would get the Venado but have heard they are a little slick on trails and wet grass, etc. I would get the Leadville pacer but the website says it is currently sold out.

Looks like the Mono is my best bet.

    Thanks!

The Luna Pacer is actually my favorite sandal of Lunas. It has traction but is also a little thinner than the mono. I can't really speak much about unshoes, they do look decent, I had the pah tempe but had problems with the laces and the cut of the sandal so I have modified them. You might also look into Bedrock Sandals. I believe they have some thinner ones that also have tread on the bottom, although I have not tried them myself. They look good though.
