May have been predictable, I liked the acknowledgement from the Nike engineers that there were, in fact, no studies proving that the padded shoes they produce actually helped prevent injury.

The reality is that if everyone did what was good for them, obesity would not be so prevalent.
People often have other motivators besides what's good for them, and throughout history people have shod themselves in self destructive ways just to be a part of the latest fashions...
Folks who want to be fashionable over healthy and comfortable are not going to be persuaded to give up their stylish shoes by any amount logic, facts, or common sense.
And that's fine, if that's what floats their boat
