We had a great IBRD in Marburg again.
Our group was a bit smaller than in the last years due to a national holiday on 1st May, but
weather had just-in-time become dry, sunny and moderately warm,
so here is my

on the 4th Marburg Barefoot-Running Workshop in the framework of the 6th International Barefoot Running Day (IBRD)

Programme
Distribution of light backpacks for shoe transportation including packed lunches to the participants.
Welcome by Martin Güngerich; short note on the Marburg Running School, the BRS and the ideas behind IBRD.
Introductory talk (Susann Hinz, Martin Güngerich): Biomechanical and sensomotor advantages of barefoot running; direct influences on foot health.
Run through the Marburg city centre, residential areas and the adjacent forest, paused several times by short notes:
Instructions for healthy running form (Susann Hinz)
Demonstration of co-ordinative workouts (Martin Güngerich)
How to deal with (perceived) risks of barefoot running (Martin Güngerich)
Advantages and disadvantages of different terrains (Tabea Wagner)
Barefoot at running competitions - what to consider? (Martin Güngerich)
Barefoot running in the dark and in winter (Susann Hinz)
Return to the starting point at 1:05 p.m.;
conclusion of the workshop with drinks and snacks.
Participants (including instructor team): 13 (7 female und 6 male)
Distance run: 6.5 km. 10 of 13 participants ran the whole route barefoot. Running surfaces: asphalt and concrete pavement of different qualities, cobblestone, forest trail
Three, two, or even one makes IBRD special. People see you running barefoot, and it makes them question...themselves. Thanks for representing, even sweet baby!
