Vibram needs to make a Flow-Trek hybrid for snow and ice running.

For snow and ice, I'd rather have the non-Trek soles than the Trek soles. Aggressive rubber treading isn't good on ice at all. Steel spikes work on ice because they're hard enough to dig into it. Rubber lugs sit on the surface of ice and offer less control than smooth soles, due to the difference in the amount of surface contact.

I agree with Nyal regarding the less nobby tred the better. Living in Winnipeg I have to deal with slippery conditions in the winter quite alot. I find as long as I keep my form tight, my steps light and my VFF's (I used my KSO's last year) or Zems plant on the ground properly, I have no issue. I have gone on numerous winter runs with friends who run in standard running shoe or "winter traction running shoes" and they still seem to have issues with slipping and sliding while I typically don't. I believe the more foot surface in contact with the ground the better.
