Reviewed By: jschwab Date Reviewed: 06/27/2010 Review Type: Trail Barefoot Friendliness: 1 Excellent Location: Detroit Riverwalk from Cobo Center to Omni Riverwalk Detroit Runs parallel to Jefferson Ave right on the Detroit River Detroit, MI See map: Google Maps I was in Detroit for a conference and was pleased to discover there is an urban Greenway right along the Detroit River downtown. The path is brick and concrete, easy on the feet with scenery that's easy on the eyes. There is one detour where the Greenway does not yet connect, but it is mostly contiguous sections that pass through urban parks and ampitheaters. There are sections that are rougher on the feet - striated concrete like the "slow down" sections on highway shoulders, but it's mostly smooth pavement and concrete pavers. The section I've reviewed is part of a much longer Greenway. I didn't have a chance to try it, but there is also a 3 mile rails to trails path that runs off perpendicular to the river path straight across town.
