Looking good Nate!

I took a chunk of skin off the tip of a finger at New Year. It healed up very quickly but the sensation has still not returned to normal. I will be interested to hear if you have normal feeling in the new skin when you are walking properly again.

Looking good Nate!  Glad to

Looking good Nate! Glad to see you are healing up nicely and able to walk (even gingerly) again!

I'll post again on sat ...and

I'll post again on sat :)...and I do have full feeling...very sensitive :)

It looks great, Nate! You

It looks great, Nate! You must have some serious arm muscles now after doing all those crab crawls and such. Ha!

my tricepts are bulging, not

my tricepts are bulging, not just from crab walking, but from the dips getting up and down from chairs, bed, and toliet :)

OK...one month of

OK...one month of healing...ALMOST completely coverd by skin (small little point on the right ball of foot...before you say something TJ, yes, I'm aware that in on of the pictures there is an animal hair stuck there again :)...said Husky is in his sheding season)...walking much better, probably still 2 weeks out from getting a run in though...maybe one?? Here on out, I'll take more pictures in two weeks...unless you bed for more next weekend LOL...alot of my "thicker skin" without being used the last month, and trauma from the surrounding areas, is now all peeling off. I'll come back :)...without further ado, pictures:

OUCH!  Still looks tender!

OUCH! Still looks tender! But, what is so cool is the human body's ability to heal, even from something like the abuse you experienced. It goes to show the foot is not weak, the foot is not defective.

But now thinking back to

But now thinking back to prehistoric ages, you would be the meal, not the hunter. ;-) Ha! Yummy!

Nah, I was still faster than

Nah, I was still faster than some...you only have to be faster than ONE to not be a meal :-D

edit...yeah, it's still quite tender :).

my god, you look like you're

my god, you look like you're still more than two weeks from a run.

now i don't even want to post pics of my little blister and bruised toe. a little girl wouldn't even be proud of them compared to your pics. i think you just ended this thread.

not sure that's a thing to

not sure that's a thing to win LOL...but yeah, I think two weeks from a run is a safe bet...it's funny, if you go back to the first posts, last year I wrote somthing like "this makes me want to go out and over do it so I have something to post too."...I wasn't actually serious about that post :). I guess, at this point, had I worn shoes and busted an ankle or something, it would have been at least a total of six weeks without running too...such is life. I've learned a lot through this healing process though!

OK, six week healing picts.

OK, six week healing picts. I'll post again at 8 weeks. Tried to run this AM, still not working...too painful yet. Gonna try again thursday, and every other day after that until I can run again!!! But, progress is steady and regular!

Hey Nate,I think we have all

Hey Nate,

I think we have all learned a lot from your adventure in some way or another. Best of luck and speedy pads!

thanks! I'm glad some other

thanks! I'm glad some other good can come from it besides my own experience :). watching it heal (don't get me wrong I am SOOO itching for a run) and seeing the "scar" I can better determine or hypothozise deeper on the causes of this injury....the cut looks like it did start on the upper OUTSIDE of the edge of my foot, where the skin was/is thinner, and then sheared UNDER the pads of the balls of my feet. Add that in with the softness of perpetual wetness (hours worth) and you have this.

ok, to make it

ok, to make it easier...here's a youtube video slideshow of the healing process :), so you don't have to go back to see what it origionally looked like :-D

Dam. I'm out.

I predicted 6 weeks. Nice progress. It looks the skin is thickening up.

Great video.

In Ken Bobs book he describes a cut he had across his foot from a stone. The cut stopped at the edge of the thick skin on the pad and only a shallow scrape was visible across the pad.

Your thinking that the injuries started on the side of the foot sounds plausible.

Okay, great.  Thanks for

Okay, great. Thanks for that! Now I think I'm going to puke! I can't believe you actually put all that to music! Ha! Glad you're doing better, cousin. Since we have the same blood, we have the same thick skin, just wished it was on our feet!

Paul, none of us "won"

Paul, none of us "won" LOL...left foot feels almost normal...right still feels a little "tight" at the toe knuckle and is more tender than the left. It is pretty cool to see the process though! TJ, I'll get you a bucket!!! I'll tell you what though, I'm having a new sense of sympathy for those who never went barefoot in their lives and then try it out :)....I've pretty much always been barefoot, so to be at this level of "sensitivity" is quite interesting!
