People just can’t help themselves, there’s always a comment. So far I’ve heard-

“That looks cold.” I just smile and continue on my way.

“Bare feet are sinful.” (really don’t understand that one?) I respond “Not according to Christ.

“You know people spit where your walking/running, right?”. I usually just say Yup.

“Do you enjoy cleaning dog s**t off your feet?”. I couldn’t help but ask that guys wife why she lets him walk in dog s**t with his shoes since he’s obviously speaking from experience. And for the record I haven’t had any dog s**t mishaps yet.

“Aren’t you worried about germs?”. My reply is usually “Yes, that’s why I don’t like wearing shoes.”. That one always baffles them.

“That looks dangerous.”. A shrug and a smile seems like response enough, I don’t have time for a debate.

    “You’re crazy!”. My wife agrees.

I imagine there’s more to come...

These are great, thanks for sharing. There’s several I’d contemplate putting on a t-shirt.

Didn't we have a long thread where a lot of people posted comments they had gotten when people saw them running barefoot?

It seems there were a lot of really funny (smack my head, roll my eyes) ones on there.

I am visiting downtown St Petersburg FL and I went on a night (9 pm) trip to a nearby market for some soda. Walked on the street barefoot. Not many pedestrians except for people walking their dogs. Got about four blocks from the airbnb apartment. Someone called the police. Three squad cars came out to check me out and they frisked me and checked my id. A complainant thought I was a drug dealer and had drugs in my backpack. Asked why I was barefoot! The three officers took it in stride when I said the enjoyed being barefoot and was headed to the market. I’ve heard the neighborhood is transitional with gentrification going on. I stayed calm and treated the incident as a safety issue - mine and the neighbors.

So being barefoot equates to drug dealing nowadays. sigh

We need to get a BRS Barefoot Card with our web address to hand out to people and police to show them that we are indeed legit...as human beings.

The officer said that the complainant thought I picked up a backpack along to way and I was talking on the cell phone. I was (unwisely) fidgeting my phone on a partly dark street. Hopefully, barefootedness was not the complaint but a distinguishing characteristic of a stranger walking on a darken street. My route went by a senior housing center so maybe it was a neighborhood watch. Not a fun experience for me but I think it was a good thing for the neighborhood - watching out for each other - not the possibility of discriminating against barefooted people.

About three weeks ago I was running down the highway towards home after I’d done a 15 mile hike on a trail (Wünderfül Wife was going to pick me up on her way home). A member of the local RCMP detachment went by me and pulled over to the shoulder of the road and hit his lights. I was pretty surprised when he got out of his cruiser and stopped me. I gave him my I.D. and he went to run my information then sent me on my way. I guess seeing a guy with a small backpack running barefoot down the highway is a threat to society...

Imagine being a cop. Imagine being bored out of your mind. Now imagine an excuse to do something, anything. At least you had ID. I often go without.

Yes. Like you, when I run out for a quick errand down the street, I frequently leave the house without ID, too! That would have been a nightmare!

Anyone with skills want to make it? We can them post it on the site, and people can print it off. It can say something like, "I am not a criminal. I am a member of the Barefoot Runners Society. Check out our web address (www.TheBarefootRunners.org). I am a barefoot runner. That's what I do. It's not against the law. Leave me alone. :banghead: :barefoot:
