Coffee and Running

    What are your thoughts about drinking lots of coffee to make you run better? Do you think it is ok doing that?

    I normally drink coffee just to lift my mood to get myself in the mood to go for a run after work.

    Is that good for your heart...I mean too much caffeine, not the coffee?

    Good point, I also thought about that if caffeine gets your heart racing and you running which gets your heart racing even more and you have heart problem you don't know about, you could have a heart attack.

    There was a story over here about a young guy who died after consuming a protein drink that he added a teaspoon full of caffeine powder to, I assume to pep up his workout. Apparently the equivalent coffee intake would have been between 25 to 50 coffees. He had a heart attack. I wonder if the coffee would dehydrate you on a run. I'll stick to water.

    More is not better. A cup or two of coffee if you aren't a regular drinker is plenty. An extra cup if you are...
