I just wanted to post up about a couple of British runners who were barefoot or minimalist shoe advocates.

First is Bruce Tulloh. I came across his name because he used to write a lot of the training plans for Runners' World. He was a great athlete who represented Britain at 5,000m.
Here's a nice video of him competing barefoot.

Gordon Pirie was another great British athlete. He wrote a very interesting book. While he doesn't talk about barefooting much, he is in favour of minimal shoes and describes correct form.

Pirie's book was one of the most useful things I found when I started running barefoot.

Pirie's book was the one that got me started with minimal running.

I remember reading Bruce's articles in the UK's Running magazine back in the late 70's and early 80's. I've read the Gordon Pirie book too.
Ron Hill also used to run barefoot. He told me he stopped when he stood on broken bottle while running a cross country years ago. I think he should have stuck with it as his feet look like they had suffered a bit from the years of running in shoes.
