Hey, any of you use any cool jewelery... I mean things like ankle
bracelets. When I see pictures of people running with such things
it always looks cool to me. I have an Intel 5/10K (employee only)
event coming up on 8/22 (running the 10K barefoot if its not too
blazingly hot out) and am thinking about my gear.

Pointers about where to find them too?

Wow, I never thought about it, but I suppose if you're racing barefoot, you'd want your feet to look their best, since everyone will be looking at them, right? I wonder if I should spruce up my feet for my regular runs too, to present a good image. When you're a minority, you always have to play ambassador. It'll be interesting to see what other recs come in. I want something kind of butch, and not too showy, ... I guess I'm going for sort of the stoic/Clint Eastwood barefoot runner iconoclastic iconography look thing.

I wear my road id normally on an ankle strap. That's kind of like jewelry right?

I have an anklet that I made from a necklace I got at a surf/gift shop in Destin back in 2008 on our 1-year anniversary trip. I never wore the necklace because it pulled the hairs on the back of my neck. So I shortened it to make an anklet, and have been wearing it most days for over a year, doing just about anything, including swimming, running, cycling, etc.

Here's something I might be able to get behind. A Handmade Hemp Anklet:

[IMG]But will police dogs sniff at me? I'm going to wear it on my left foot. Maybe it'll have a little juju and clear up my left side problems once and for all.

I paint my toenails with the good ole American flag on the 4th. And I have all sorts of anklets I've worn too.

I have a black one with paws going around it, but I can't find a close-up. Then I have this really cool one of leather and sea shells I can't find in pictures.

No cool jewelry for me, but I do have a red reflective RoadID ankle band. Since I usually run in the early morning in the dark, I'll have the reflective RoadID strap on one ankle and a blank reflective strap (less expensive) on the other.

I'll be using my black road I'd during my next race. I wouldn't wear anything but thy are using the ankle tags instead of bib tags.

Wow, a bit too flashy for me, but I really like them all, very cool  Thanks for everyone's reply.
I'm sure my wife would really get a thrill painting my toenails, hmm, but I'm not sure I can do that,
will have to go browsing at the mall I suppose...

BTW, I ran 8K today barefoot, right arch is SORE this evening, but its about par for me, next weekend
will be the practice run of the 10K. Not quite the Portland Marathon I had planned on earlier this year,
but at least I'm out there running. Maybe I can get to a half before the end of the season, we'll see...

Working for Intel, you should try to come up with something computer-geeky :)

Thanks, I'll have to show that to my wife. No wait a minute. If she finds out I've found a sudden interest in jewelry through barefoot running, she might suspect my motives for doing the latter.

Never thought I would have a lower leg or foot fetish, but I find an anklet/barefoot combo very sexy. Just a thin anklet, not a bracelet. Yes, even on you Patrick.;)

On myself though, I prefer bare ankles. I have a Road ID that I wear only if necessary.

    LOLwhut!!! :p

I wear mine as a statement of "yes I am barefoot on purpose" since I wouldn't wear it with shoes/socks on, although I could with my no-show socks that don't cover my ankles.

I saw that before and thought that was wicked. So what is the minimum speed one must be to wear flames? I figure I'd only be sporting them if I was fast enough to place.
