Best running scenes in movies?

I was trying to think of some inspirational video for a "tapering" period and started thinking about cool running scenes in movies.

Personally, I'm not so into the documentaries. I like it more when there's a bigger story going on, and somebody has to run somewhere for a reason that's part of the story. Some faves of mine:

The New Year's Eve "yes I guess I do really love you" run in When Harry Met Sally.

All that running after orcs Aragon, Legolas, and Gimli do in Lord of the Rings.

And of course most of Run Lola Run.

What are your faves?

I'm pretty sure "Cool Runnings" had a few good sprinting scenes, at least during the the push starts.

Oh, COOL running scenes.

Yes, I love Run Fat Boy Run

Yes, I love Run Fat Boy Run and The Spirit of the Marathon.

We watched "Saint Ralph" last

We watched "Saint Ralph" last year - a pretty fantastic movie, and I also like the version of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" that plays during the climactic Boston Marathon scene.

I agree times a million. I run in Philly so I get to run the Rocky landscape all the time (my running club meets at the Rocky steps). I run to South Philly sometimes to visit with my Eye-talian friend Anthony. I love it and there is no way not to be inspired.

I actually thought of the

I actually thought of the Rocky opening theme song during the last parts of a training run back then to keep me pumped up. It still does the trick when I'm feeling sluggish at the end of a run.

Apparently one of the members

Apparently one of the members of Survivor was playing at a bar in Minneapolis yesterday. I didn't know that Survivor did anything other than the Rocky theme...or that any of them had a solo career for that matter.

Even though they made it into

Even though they made it into a commercial for Nike... I still like the beach running scene from Chariots of Fire.

Maybe I should invest in a white on white running outfit for my next jaunty BF run on the beach?

yeah, the rocky I training scene is awesome.

i just thought of something a little less triumphant, but just as true.

In Body Heat, William Hurt goes running along the waterfront. He's cutting a pretty healthy sweaty image until he stops -- for a cigarette break.

Sadly the clip is not on youtube but here's the trailer. A hot dark neo film noir.

I just saw some of that movie

I just saw some of that movie Fools Gold with Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson. In it there is a scene where Matthew was just rescued from floating in the ocean and is running hard and fast barefoot to get to his divorce appointment; if he was late he would forfeit everything to Kate. The scene lasted quite awhile (of course there were takes.) He was really running very well and moving fast. I was really impressed with him.

The chase scene in "Casino

The chase scene in "Casino Royale" is pretty awesome. It is very parkourish.

McConaughey is a stud, especially in Dazed and Confused :D
