I seem to be the only barefoot hiker in NWA I know there have to be more. I went out several times this summer...barefoot as always....and got only strange stares and weird comments. People seem to be embarrassed...possibly cause they keep staring at my feet. Anyhow that used to embarrass me, but I learned that I really enjoy not wearing shoes or socks, and I love to feel the ground and all its textures beneath my bare feet. So I'm doing nothing to be embarrassed about. Someday I would love to run into others hiking barefoot. However I have noticed the increased number of Jeep owners (I am one) who drive with their barefoot hanging out when the doors are off! I NEVER wear shoes when I'm driving.
Hey! I trail run and hike barefoot myself, and when I'm up your way I'm on the trails in NWA barefoot, too. I'm in LR and have seen a couple of us here, but not many. Hope to see you one day in the woods baring your soles!
