ha! Okay raisins, grapes, etc...
Ok. Lets see if I can answer all the questions...
Im hairless. Completely. I was shaving my head and face, but I have started growing that out. So aside from the highest portions of my body I look like a 9 year old boy.
I wear compression shorts under my running shorts. The compression shorts help out with the thigh chaffing.
I use body glide.
To explain a little more in depth.... Its more like back of the sack / taint area thats chaffing. Its not TERRIBLLE by any stretch of the old imiganition, but the longest Ive ran is 50 miles. Im worried about 100K and 100 Mile distances (If I can ever get a consistent training base to attempt those distances...)
Yes Abide, I have a 50K next Saturday.
The race is Saturday, May 16t. It's the Whispering Pines 50K.
chase! this place has been boring w/out ya.
my last race was last year. 15k. chafing started 2 miles in. i tried running bowl legged but got no relief. forgot to wear compression shorts and use any lube, which i've used coconut oil. ha!
underwear doesn't help. so far the few times i wore compression shorts i had no probs. i bought some short running shorts and those were no help. the extra air flow is supposed to help but like you said, extra tonnage makes the thighs and cheeks rub anyhow.
Oh TJ! You know you missed me!
Mike, the more I think about it, the more I'm convinced that the problem is due to the seams on the compression shorts rubbing the skin raw. Some pairs seems to be worse than others. Just need to figure out which pair works best and go from there!
hay Chase, this is Mike, your 'old' running buddy from Lumberton. I just wear running shorts with a liner. no prob running but prob on a bike. On bike I us vasoline.
Mr. Dunham? Awesome! How have you been?
Look into a product called "Body Glide", they sell it at Academy. Looks like a blue tube of deoderant. I like it better than vasoline, not nearly as messy.
btw, i was wearing running shorts with a liner at that race. still chafed. thunder thighs rule.
Run 100 miles, and I bet the last thing you'll be thinking about is chafted nuts!! How about Vaseline? Had a similar issue years ago during triathlon days when my farmer john wetsuit would chafe my armpits. Greased them up with Vaseline, lots of it, problem solved.
BTW, this thread is like a train wreck, I can't look away! Lol!!
When I was training for my marathon a couple years ago I started out at about 230 lbs and got down to 217 by the end of the season. I noticed the leaner I got ,the less chaffing there was.
Of course I come back to this...
Target has c9 compression shorts that are seamless. This did the trick for me.
