Hey all, I started barefooting back in April (I think) and have been slowly working my mileage up. I am now at 2.5 miles a day and will be soon hitting 3 miles a day. With that "milestone" coming up, I finally feel like I'm able to run long enough that I would not be holding anyone back in a group run so I thought I'd check in to see if anyone wants to get together for a run. So far I've only been running on concrete and I feel like my feet are still pretty soft so I'm not sure if running trails would be the best idea, but something like Gray's lake or Waterworks park would be an easy place to meet. I don't have a date or time in mind yet, just putting out some feelers. Nate
I would be totally up for that! What is your schedule like? I have been thinking of getting a meetup together in the next couple of weeks. Maybe this is the catalyst I needed! Let me know, Angie
I work for the fire dept. so I work 24 hours on and then have 48 hours off. That means that I work a rotating schedule. I have time available on any day of the week, depending on the week. I work tomorrow and then again this Sunday, and so on. I imagine weekends are the best time for most people. I work this Sunday and also work the following Saturday. I have other commitments this Saturday and go to church Sunday mornings (when I can). I was kind of thinking maybe Sat. the 30th in the morning before the pavement gets too hot. This alsoallows this post to sit for a bit giving people a chance to read it and respond. (My wife and I are expecting a baby on Aug. 1 so that day is a bit tentative.) If non-weekends work better, I am open other days as well.
The 30th sounds great! Lets make that a plan and I will send out invites ect. It will be an official meetup! Are you signed up for the Iowa chapter facebook page? Shall we meet at Grays lake or at Mullets and then run the path to Grays?
Just fyi... I recently had my hair cut and so a mullet is out of the question for me. Actually... it would've been anyway! ;-) Unless of course you're talking about something other than the required hair style for Grand National drivers?
Excellent! how about 10 am so out of towers have time to drive and we could have a sit-down afterwards. My email is angiebeehotz@gmail.com and my phone is 515-661-4738. It's official so let's spread the word. stay put for the day baby!!
I've got it in my calendar. Let me know if there are others in my area that would want to share a ride. Looking forward to it. By the way, what kind of distance/surface are we to expect for the run?
It will be paved bike paths. I think we should assess the distance when we know the experience levels of those that show up.
Angie, do you know if anyone is coming from Cedar Rapids that I could ride with? I would love to come to the event.
Dama, I sent an email to Andy from Cedar Rapids to see if he would want to car pool. He came to the IBRD get together in May so I hope he would come for this. I will let you know what he says. Ask on the main board too.
I'm planning on coming from Cedar Rapids. I think there might be somebody from Iowa City too? My email is my account name @gmail.com
Hi Angie, Nope, but I don't need anybody to ride with either. I was just willing to share a ride with others if it would help them out with driving/fuel. Looking forward to meeting those that can make it!
WOOT, WOOt, people here we come! It turns out my sweetheart is not going to be out of town so I won't need a ride after all. Many thanks Andy for the offer. Here is my cell# in case someone needs to get a hold of me 319 321 6840. Angie, could you please tell me where the towers are? See you all Sat at 10:00AM.
