Not fit enough. Today was first day I can remember in months that my foot didnt hurt. Might try training again tomorrow. Probably need about 3 months before I am ready go to any more races.
While I would love to do it, and I feel ready for 17km trail, this Sunday won't work for me, sorry ! But I am planning on doing a few during Spring (at least around Sydney)
Yay Murls!! Great to have you back on deck!!!! Slow slow slow return to awesomeness...and bend zeeee kneeeeessss!!!!!! p.s don't forget to add your mileage to the spreadsheet AUSSI AUSSI AUSSI!!!!
False start unfortunately but I have now had my foot X-ray which showed no structural damage. I did a really really slow an painful 6km a few days ago to pinpoint the exact location of pain which worked and now with help of barefoot friendly sports podiatrist I have been able to pinpoint the problem to my 2nd metatarsal. I have an ultrasound scheduled for Monday to find out the exact cause of the pain. I really want to be fit enough to get back to racing with the old gang again!
quick update. Got fluid on top of 2nd metatarsal and some mysterious black spot. Getting it assessed tomorrow.
oh the shame of it all. I now have a custom podiatrist made insert for my shoes with a cut out section to take pressure of my metatarsal. The good news is though I was able to run pain free on the treadmill in my saucony hattori for 3kms. Will try a slow 1km barefoot on weekend and see how I go.
Hi Murls I hope the orthotic is a temporary addition until the problem heals. These things can sometimes become permanent with new ones being fashioned every couple of years to keep the cash flow coming in. Good luck. Neil
