Please invite your chapter members to participate in this yearly challenge (climate permitting.)

Everyone is welcome to participate, whether you run 1 mile or 500. Come and challenge yourself and run in the snow and cold. The challenge runs from Oct 1 2014 to April 1 2015. Our last day will be April Fools Day.

    1. Runs must be BAREFOOT
    2. Temperature with wind chill must be less than or equal to 50°F (10°C)
    3. Any run of 1/3 mile (0.5 km) can be counted
    4. Add your total distance and runs in the appropriate temperature range on the following spreadsheet:

    New this year!
    • Who can run the most miles on snow?
    • Increased the temperature range. All runs <= 50°F count
    • 30 mile penalty for each case of frostbite
Add your runs, starting Oct 1st 2014.

Ha, I like the rule changes. It's more inclusive, but also rewards those few who can run on snow. 30-mile penalty for frostbite is excellent! My mileage will probably be way down this year, as I'll be running in the morning more and doing everything to avoid moisture below freezing.

I like the challenge sounds chill. I am excited to keep my mileage up during winter, what a great way to help encourage others.

I get that the new "frostbite" rule is very likely an attempt to be cute, but the thing I like the most about this challenge is that it hasnt changed the rules. I dont remember the temperature cutoff last year, 40*F? If there were to be a rule change, or I guess a format change, Id like to see what runners did year over year. Example: John Smith ran 3 miles in 2012, 5 miles in 2013, 7 miles in 2014. Good luck all.
