This is a fun run, about a mile long, through the vast main campus of Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona, this Saturday morning, November 15th. I will be participating in this as my first running event that I will do barefoot. I find most asphalt pavement too rough for the current state of my feet. This fun run course consists of concrete walkways, and concrete is my preferred surface for barefoot running. The registration cost for children who are not Sun Devil Generations members is $5.00. For everyone else, it's free. I expect that there will be lots of people at this event; a great opportunity to expose them to barefoot running. Click here for more information and to register.
Though this event was a lot smaller than I expected, it was fun, and I learned that the ASU campus is great place for barefoot running. If I lived closer I'd run there often. There's a good-sized community college close to me that has lots of smooth and clean concrete walkways. I will check it out on a Sunday in the near future.
