I plan on running in this event on Sunday, November 1st, and I encourage other chapter members to participate as well.
There are multiple distances (5K, 10K, and a half-marathon). I plan to run the 10K barefoot. It will be my second barefoot race.
Over the past few weeks I've twice run the 10K course barefoot. Most of the course is run out and back along Central Avenue, where the asphalt pavement is quite clean and nicely textured for anyone with moderately thickened plantar skin. I found one side of Roosevelt Street tolerable, but much of 3rd Avenue north of Van Buren Street was too rough. I used the concrete sidewalk instead. The short finish line approach along Washington Street, while not as smooth as Central, was comfortable enough for a decent final kick. There are no hills, and minimal turns.
