Well the good news is that I sort of PR'd, took 1st in my Age Group, and ran in 6th place overall. The other side of the news is that the field was very small, with maybe only 100 runners, though there were lots of people and even more dogs. It was a race sponsored by an animal rescue organisation, after all.
My sort of PR was a 24:38, or 7:56 or so per mile, and was a PR for BFR....and my first BF Race. I'll take it!
The dogs slowed me down a bit as a few of them cut me off with leashes across the shins and once I had a pup licking at my bare feet as I was running. ("He loves feet!" his owner said.) Also, they posted that the length of the run was about .1 mile more than a regular 5K. I don't know why they just didn't adjust it to standard.
My feet were fine. I hardly felt the road beyond the stretch of chip and seal. No sweat! I did get a lot of "Bare Foot! Yeah!" and also quite a few"Bare Foot! Oh my gosh!" The guy who ran in 3rd was wearing VFF's. I didn't see any other BF or Min runners.
The run was lovely with sunny and cool weather - a surprize because the forecast had been for cloudy and rain. Go figure.
OK, everybody else, it's your turn. Run well!
