If the news doesn't report it online somewhere, or he doesn't tell us about it, how are we to know? Desert Solstice - 24hrs - Phoenix, AZ Dec 10, 2016 Overall:5 GP:4 138.81 Age: 30 Rank: 95.92% You can check out his past races/events here: http://ultrasignup.com/results_participant.aspx?fname=Andrew&lname=Snope We have this on him from the past: https://www.thebarefootrunners.org/...-world-record-136-98-miles.16889/#post-159087
I contacted Andrew. He says no news outlets have picked it up yet. I wrote to the ex-senior editor of Competitor Magazine, now freelance I believe, and a freelance writer for the Atlanta Journal Constitution about his story to see if they'd be interested. If they don't, I can try some other contacts.
Way cool TJ! Yeah I saw his pic keep popping up in FB and I had been following the solstice over the weekend. Guess it is fresh news!
Unfortunately, it was turned down by the ex-senior editor at Competitor, but at least he had the decency to write me back, so I thanked him. I'm still waiting to hear back on the other, and I have other contacts too.
I wrote to some more freelance writers (Competitor Magazine and New York Times), ESPN directly as well as a staff writer of theirs, LA Times staff writer. I will try some others like Running Times, Runners World, Running Journal, Live Strong, SF Gate, and the Wall Street Journal if I don't hear back soon from the others.
Running Journal replied. They're interested in doing a piece on Andrew. I put them in touch. We should have an article soon.
I will be attending the Desert Solstice race this year (2017 December 9-10). And if allowed, will set up the BarefootRunning.com canopy to support the barefoot runners, provide drinks, rest area, snacks, and shoot photos and videos and interviews with the barefoot runners. http://barefootrunning.com/?tag=desert-solstice Race website: https://www.aravaiparunning.com/desert-solstice/
