Welcome to the Kentucky Chapter of the Barefoot Runners Society!
We welcome anyone to join us, whether you are just beginning your barefooting journey, or you are an experienced barefoot or minimalist runner.
Kentucky is an amazing place to run. Hills, flats, plateaus; cities, suburbs, parks. Whatever your pleasure, we have it here.
I was an avid trail runner years ago, and when I moved back to the city after living in a national park area (running a B&B) I lost that runnin' feelin. For years, off and on, I tried to get back into the saddle and just couldn't. It felt like work, and the joy and freedom that I felt on the trails couldn't be found. I then read about Vibram Fivefingers (VFF) and tried them out. I fell in love. However, I did too much too soon (TMTS) and had to step back.
After spending a lot of time researching, I stumbled upon Barefoot Ken Bob's book (Barefoot Running Step by Step). I took a step back, and took off the shoes. Now, I know taking off the shoes isn't for everyone - hence the people who run in mininalist shoes (like the VFFs). However, I do recommend taking the shoes off until you learn the proper technique. That being said, before you have to make that decision for yourself!
Enough about me and my journey. Share your journey, and let's share a run!
