    People's reactions when you run

I'm not used to the stares yet. Don't like them much to be honest! Maybe it's my imagination but parents seem to huddle round their children, couples stare, older kids go "eh?", as they pull their trousers down to even further expose their underwear, (now THAT'S weird), and one old lady coughed...

    Totally BF... Why??

Wowzers soooo many replies - and all fantastic, thank you! I've been off the boards for a few days so I've been avidly catching up. I'm really grateful to you all for your input and appreciate all comments. I'm glad to have some "logical" explanations but I get the feeling that the overriding...

    Totally BF... Why??

Bryan, I'm so glad you said that because it was the only thing I could think of but I thought it was weird to say so! I suppose I wanted a "valid" reason that I could give people when they questioned why. Mind you , my non running friends will often ask "why" anyway (why do I run) and my answer...

    Totally BF... Why??

Hi there. I'd love to know the reasons why you run totally bf. I switched to Xero/Sockwa 6 months ago after painful shins, heavy legs etc which were a result of bad form in heavy clunkers. I've been amazed and really happy with my progress BUT someone challenged me to run BF ( yes you Paul...

    Confession Time

Thought I'd throw in my 2pence here, and forgive me if I repeat anything already said but I haven't read all of the posts, sorry. I'm not a BF purist because I can't stand mud and dirt on my skin. I got into BF style to cure shin splints and I love running in either Xero's or recently acquired...

    Your opinions please...on Sockwa

I'm looking into getting a pair for the UK winter. I'd like to know any good points or bad or in between! What you love/hate about them, how they feel for both running and also walking on day to day basis. I've read/watched YouTube and they sound good but most of these reviews are from people...

    Great South Run 5k 2013

Yesterday I took part in this race in Portsmouth, UK. I ran with my friend and her daughter and what an experience! We each had brilliant results AND I got a PB, YEEHAAAAAA! 35.09, 698 out of nearly 1000, well chuffed with that. Hopefully photo below. The lady who had to remove my chip, bent...

Best clothing for (UK) winter running?

Cheers for all the feedback. It seems the best way is to "suck it and see", which pretty much sums up running in general, eh! I think maybe I was getting carried away because other advice I've had is that lots of people wear the same stuff all year round (in most cases, shirts and vests...

Best clothing for (UK) winter running?

Hello, this is my first winter as a runner and I'd like some advice/opinions on what you like to run in during the cold weather. It's very confusing, looking at all the gear in official running shops - do I need base layers/short or long sleeve? Long sleeve t-shirt or zip up jacket? Thermal...

    My first 10k. Feeling proud!

Ha ha, so right! You should see the FB comments from my friends. I hadn't advertised the fact that I'd switched to sandals as I wanted to make sure it was right for me first before I tried to justify it to others. Most are like "wow, are you sure you can run in those"!

    My first 10k. Feeling proud!

Thank you all! I've seen the YouTube of 100's before but perhaps I'll watch again! Cheers JT

    My first 10k. Feeling proud!

Just wanted to post that I completed my first 10k! I finished last but one and I'm really proud of myself as I beat my previous 10k in training time by 15 mins. I was at the back of the pack right from the off, everyone else was defo there to race whereas I was just there to see IF I could hack...

    Which training plan for HM?

Ha ha Mig, I guessed you were being sarcastic and I got the irony! But you're right, lots of people don't want to have a plan and on some days I don't either. In fact, I would rather just run for the sake of it and up my mileage. I like BfLee's suggestion so I think I'll try that. Last night I...

    Which training plan for HM?

I've been away camping for a few days and forgot to check this post, wow you all have so much experience. Thank you. So, someone asked "what plan", I'm assuming that means they don't run to one, or don't like to. I agree usually, except that I'm finding I'm not really improving much on speed...

Achy ankles - how long should this last?

Hi Dama. I stole this from Argos website.... Maximum user weight 150kg (23st 9lb). Size H45.5cm, W16cm, D16cm. Diameter 16cm. Weight 1.3kg. Here's (hopefully) the photo: black=the stick, grey is the concertina one which doesn't really show in pic, and outer is blue one. I sit on the whole thing...

Achy ankles - how long should this last?

Whoa boys! Paul you have done fantabulously with or without your medical ailments (but you're even more of an inspiration because of them - go you!). Anyone who runs/walks or crawls using their own man-power to go any distance in any time is always a winner. We get enough stick from those who...

    Which training plan for HM?

Hi, anyone have an recommendations for a HM plan? Anyone do HM'S? What are your times, experiences etc. do you keep up with those in trainers or are BF'ers infamous (sorry, can't think of another word) for being near the back? I was always at the back anyone, perhaps I need to start the day...

Achy ankles - how long should this last?

Paul. How long did your HM take you? You've probably said on FB somewhere and I've missed it! Yes, Dama I am one big baby, ha ha! I'm also scared of spiders too!
