Barefoot Marathon in Antarctica, History in the Making

I wholeheartedly agree! We also need to remind all Barefoot Runners to make sure that they are updated with their Tetanus shots. My understanding is that you should get a Tetanus shot every 10 years. If you don't remember when you had your last shot then you are probably due for one.

Barefoot Marathon in Antarctica, History in the Making

A little bit of both. First of all, I was not as prepared because it was only 3 weeks earlier when I had suffered from deep blisters from running barefoot at the Sedona Marathon where half of the course was dirt gravel road and asphalt. I lost an entire 3 weeks of barefoot training because I...

Barefoot Marathon in Antarctica, History in the Making

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we get good weather on Monday. I've never been there but from what I know the course is entirely dirt gravel road with small portions of the course having jagged rocks. I think the course will be set up on the same roads that connects the various research...

Barefoot Marathon in Antarctica, History in the Making

Thank you for the best wishes, Barefoot TJ and dutchie53! As far as Guinness is concerned, having one of their staff physically present to observe the event is optional but all related expenses are my responsibility. This is a very expensive trip and I will NOT foot their bill just to prove...

Barefoot Marathon in Antarctica, History in the Making

I'm a newbie here and I ran my first barefoot marathon (26.2 miles) on December 30, 2012. I have since run two more full marathons totally barefoot, i.e. no duct tape or anything to protect my soles. My only training was that I have worn Vibrams on 67 previous full marathons. Anyway, I will...

Hello Fellow Barefoot Runners: I'm a newbie barefoot runner having run totally barefoot only for the first in a full marathon just 3 weeks ago and again running barefoot on another full marathon just last week in Bermuda. It made me wonder, however, if anybody has ever completed a marathon in...
