    Merrell Sonic Gloves, initial impression

Wow! I nearly ordered a pair earlier today. I tried on the Trail Glove and it felt like it was just wide enough but they don't have the Sonic locally. Nor did they have KSO's in my size (42). I am glad that I didn't press the "order" button. Instead, I ordered a pair of KSO's which came to...

Hip Flexor pain - 5k next week

I have developed hip flexor pain. I have iced it a couple of times and am going to take it easy. I guess I shouldn't plan on running in next weeks 5k. But, if I ice it over the week and don't do any impact exercise... Think it would be that bad? I'm still planning on walking and using...

Merrell Lithe Glove vs. Tempo Glove

Jenn I have worn all kinds of shoes with my snowshoes. The straps on the modern snowshoes are really adjustable and should work on most shoes unless you have really tiny feet.

    OMG! Just call me tenderfoot

ThomDavid don't worry I'm not about to give up. Bare Lee I really like the Maple Grove site he's a hoot! I am trying to follow Jason program and like his site very much too. I'll have to look at Rick's stuff. And I have been reading the wealth of information here as well. Today it...

    Barefoot bike pedals

Hmm, I like my SPD pedals and shoes. I like the feeling of control and security that they give me. I haven’t done it for years but when I first got clip less pedals I could bunny hop the whole bike up onto a bus stop bench ride across and hop back down with ease. I could also hop the railroad...

    OMG! Just call me tenderfoot

Haha, I was carrying them with me in a sack. I could have said how they smelled and offered them to see for themselves. It'll surely come up again so I will keep that in mind. So, is walking on wet surfaces counterproductive for toughening up my feet? I remember reading that wet causes...

    OMG! Just call me tenderfoot

I walked part of the way home today barefoot. I felt like I was streaking, people looked at me funny and one lady walking her dog pointed to my feet and told me I didn't have my shoes on. I kept a straight face and didn't laugh. It's not warm and seldom sunny here so going bare foot is pretty...

    New Balance minimus cheapies? MT330?

The MT330 is $80 dollars at Amazon so under $40 sounds pretty good. And I totally understand the not able to barefoot it yet. I am thinking I should have made my moniker Tenderfoot Tom.

    OMG! Just call me tenderfoot

Today was my first jog outside barefoot. We have a LOT of gravel on our roads and sidewalks. After 10 minutes of hobbling along I found a stretch of concrete sidewalk (instead of paved). The concrete was clean and smooth. I would like to say I ran like the wind but I did at least jog. My...

An Intro from South East Alaska

Thanks for the welcome! The sun is out today so I am going to do five minutes of walking and 4 or 5 minutes of jogging. This will be my first time jogging outside.

An Intro from South East Alaska

Hello all! I am a 47 year old man working to get into shape and have fun along the way. It rains here most of the time but we had many non-rainy days this summer so I started walking to work on nice days and lately switched to Converse style flat shoes for the walk. My wife doesn’t run but...
