    Lost My Virginity Today

I'm surprised you were able to dig it out with your fingers, especially with the thick sole. I've had glass embedded a couple times, and each time I had to wait 'til I was home to dig with tweezers. I was also glad for my thick soles; I think it kept the shards from getting very far in. I...

Warm vs Cold Weather Running Question

I enjoy temps in the 50s & 60s F (10-20 C) the most for running; especially when weather is clear. The colorful trees, this time of year, are an added bonus for enjoying the outdoors. Anyway, I too notice that warmer temperatures, especially above 80 (27 C), increase my sole sensitivity...

    Recommended BF Running Sites?

That 'other' site is where I got my first exposure to BRS. It seemed like the friendly folks I got to know there all moved here. I hardly ever go there, anymore. Heck, I hardly go here, anymore. So little time. But I'd rather spend what little time I have here. And even though I hardly...

Anyone wanna watch me crash and burn? Barefoot 100 attempt coming up

BB, my one word of advice: BB, my one word of advice: stay awake. When I read Jason's story about his 100 miler, I was amazed to learn that you can actually fall asleep, not only on your feet, but while moving! I know that's not very inspiring. Sorry! I wish you the best in it. Without...

What are your kids wearing on their feet? Are they runners?

Last summer my 16 year old Last summer my 16 year old son started running a couple times per week, usually just a mile or two at a time. Sometimes he even ran with me, at the beginning or end of one of my runs. He's the one who would say things about my barefoot running that made me afraid he...

Just don't read that article about persistence hunting, or you'll be wanting to run after deer...with a spear! Ok. Maybe not. Anyway, it sounds like you're enjoying yourself. That'll help you keep at it 'til you're completely hooked and can't help thinking about your next fix, er, I mean run!

    Tried...and failed.

Sole, no worries.  Try again Sole, no worries. Try again under different conditions. I run local trails that are also used by mountain bikers. About half of these trails are nice and soft sand or mud, and the other half is just compacted dirt mixed with gravel. In some places, for trail...

TJ, after all you've been TJ, after all you've been through I'm hoping no more needles or knives for your feet. Only running therapy from now on! Stay strong - and drugged - for another couple weeks, then hopefully the worst will be over. Looking forward to your run reports. Then we'll have...

Ha! Yeah, the cheese grater is good for orange skin, too, in my cranberry sauce. I was just sayin' these foot grater things remove more skin than I like. Maybe I over did it. I have to admit, though, that they do make your foot feel soft and smooth.

Invisible Shoes January Giveaway - Expires Sunday, January 8, at midnight

Count me in, too.  I don't Count me in, too. I don't see a deadline for the review. I'd enjoy running in these, and posting a review, but it would be without snow and in temps above 35 degrees. Uness this warm spell continues for another month, it could take 'til spring to complete 2-4...

I tried these once, and the sandpaper type, too. Don't like them because they remove several layers of toughness that I spent months running to build up.

How fast does the Grim Reaper walk?

This is for the geeks who enjoy reading published scientific literature about exercise and health (I must confess to being one, myself) ... Finally! A team of clinical scientists determined the walking speed of the Grim Reaper. And guess what? He (it?) is reported to walk a leisurely pace of...

    Barefoot Walking!

I often walk my dog barefoot I often walk my dog barefoot - I'm barefoot, that is; of course the dog's barefoot. It does help with my barefoot running, but not because it teaches good running form. Like you, HairyBeast, I usually heel strike when walking, or at least plant the sole down all...

    Chip seal question

Chip/seal does get easier, or Chip/seal does get easier, or less bothersome, with time. Lots of surfaces that were really bothersome when I starting running barefoot (2 years ago) don't bother me anymore, including: chip/seal, hot pavement, loose gravel, and even stiff weeds in the lawn. Of...
