    People's reactions when you run

My wife suggested to me that the next time someone says, "Hey, you forgot your shoes!" I should reply with, "At least it's not my shorts this time." :)

    People's reactions when you run

I was slowly passing an older woman on a paved trail last night. She was running in FiveFingers. When I was side by side with her, she said, "You know, there might be a rock or something out here." I replied with, "Yeah, that's alright. I'm pretty used to it. I like my bare feet because it feels...

    Rubberized Track vs. Asphalt/Concrete

Oh, yes. Lots of them. I don't have as much time as I'd like to get out on the trails though.

    Rubberized Track vs. Asphalt/Concrete

Okay, so I'm not crazy. (Or maybe it's that I'm not the only crazy one...? ;)) I don't mind the pointy/porous surface feel of the track. However, now that I'm used to running without shoes on harder surfaces, running on a track feels similar to running in normal/modern running shoes - so...

    Rubberized Track vs. Asphalt/Concrete

Is it my imagination or does it take more effort to run on a rubberized, soft track? My pace is usually slower on a track yet I feel like I'm working much harder. Is this because it doesn't cause as much rebound as a hard surface?

Snohomish Mud & Muck Run, August 09, 2014

This is from one of two races I was in last weekend. The boys are my son and my nephew. We all had a blast! Quite a few people commented that I was smart for going barefoot because many people lost shoes in the mud. Little did they know that I run like this all the time. ;)

    People's reactions when you run

I can't comment on you feeling bad for your tone because that part is up to you. I will say, however, that although I don't want to be rude or contemptuous to a skeptic, if he or she gives an unprovoked comment, I have no problem responding. So far I have not encountered anything nasty but I...

How did you find the BRS?

Found this forum via Ken Bob's site. I read it often but have seldom posted anything. I love reading about what others are learning, as it helps me learn too.

    Uphill Techniques

I second this. I'll add something from my experience. It may or may not for you. On an asphalt or concrete hill I continue to lift my feet like I would on flat land. If I push off at all, I'd get major blisters. When off-road, whether barefoot or with trail shoes, I still lift my feet instead...

    People's reactions when you run

I regularly get all the usuals: "Hey, you forgot your shoes!" "Wow, you must be tough." "Doesn't that hurt?" "Mom, where's his shoes?" My favorite so far was from my three-year-old nephew a while back: "Un-tuhl Jutt-in, why you running in your feet?"

    Hello From the Pacific Northwest

Howdy. I live in Snohomish, a medium-size town about 40 minutes North of Seattle in Washington state. I started running last December. I've been running barefoot since February and I absolutely love it. I always hated running in years past because of the jarring, jolting and overall pain. Now...
