    Hospital/medical facilities?

Hey all, long time no post! Yesterday I had to go in for a heart echo test. I had to go to the same building as my cardiologist, but to a different floor/suite. I visited my cardiologist a few weeks ago, barefoot, and had no problems at all. The doc didn't even seem to care at all. He even...

    How was your barefoot holiday?

9 days off work over the holidays, and I think I wore shoes maybe a total of 2 or 3 hours. :) I wore them for a bit on the bike, flip flops in a restaurant, and *gasp* socks and boots when I went outside for a 30-minute walk with my son in the snow. But before that I tried stepping in it BF...

Hope it's not a stress fracture!

Back about 9 months ago I posted about getting a thorn stuck in the outer edge of my right foot, right under that bony protrusion halfway down the length of the foot's outer edge: http://www.thebarefootrunners.org/threads/stuck-by-a-thorn-swelling.6091/ That healed up quickly and haven't had...

    Bug Forum database error

For some reason the page showing the list of forums generates a database error, but individual forums and threads show up fine. http://thebarefootrunners.org/forum/ shows the error, or clicking on the Forums link below the logo up top.

    No barefoot concert... maybe...

Tomorrow night I agreed to go with my wife to see one of her favorite music artists - Carrie Underwood at the FedEx Forum here in Memphis, where the NBA Memphis Grizzlies and U of M Tigers both play. Well I just checked their website under Guest Relations and they do have a statement about...

Suggestion No thread links in Chapter forums

I just noticed that when browsing Chapter forums or a thread in a chapter forum, there are no links above in the blue bar like Search Forums, Watched Threads, What's New, etc. It's just blank. Anyone else see that?

    Protecting them piggies

heh yeah, sometimes we gotta protect 'em. I was over at my parents' on Saturday helping my dad install a new garage door opener. Naturally, no shoes. Well, I had to cut some of the angle iron supporting the opener with an angle grinder. Only thing in my car was flip flops, and my SPD cycling...

Bug I just had to re-join chapters

I don't really know if this is a bug or not. I was previously a member of the MS and TN chapters, since I frequent both NW MS and SW TN (Memphis) areas. But now I just discovered that I was not a part of any chapters and I had to rejoin both of them again. Why did that happen?

    No shoes allowed!

Yesterday my wife and I took our son to the mall for lunch, shopping, and a carousel ride. I pushed the stroller just in case my boy wanted to ride in it. I wore my flip flops initially, but during lunch took them off and stashed them in the stroller (dual purpose, that stroller has! :p ). So...

    Where is the hiking map?

Didn't there used to be a map of trails and other areas that are BF friendly? I remember reading about a place in Little Rock AR that a BRS member had put on the map, and I wanted to go there sometime soon. But now I can't find the map.

Founder of TOMS shoes to be keynote speaker at 2013 AIA convention

Not so sure how I feel about this. I've only been to the AIA national convention once. If I were going to this one I'd love to be BF the whole time, but professionalism in the architecture field would dictate otherwise. I'd love to tell that guy that it's not really that hard to go without...

    Barefoot 5K

Okay no I didn't run a 5K. But I walked 3.2 miles through the big local Christmas lights display. It's normally a drive-thru affair, but on Mondays in December it's for walkers, runners, and bikes only. And I was barefoot, mostly on the asphalt road the whole time. :) My 2 year old was shod but...

    Alerts in Tap-a-talk

I noticed an issue with the alerts badge in Tap-a-talk. When I visit this forum it defaults to the Alerts page for some reason. Then to get rid of the badge I have to pull down to reload two times before the badge will go away. Anyone else seen this, using iPhone specifically?

    Continual BF PR

Personal record of total time spent barefoot that is. :D Have not had anything in my feet since Tuesday 5 pm save for an hour today wearing cycling shoes. Other than that nothing. And it has been awesome. :)

    OMG glass!!!!!

Yup, managed to get some broken glass in the kitchen. I accidentally picked up a pickle jar without the lid being on tightly. As I swung around to put it back in the fridge, down it went, crashing to the floor. Pickles, juice, and *gasp* glass went everywhere. Yes I was barefoot in the kitchen...

    I f*cking love barefootedness!

LOL I need to make some kind of pic meme with that phrase, kind of like the Facebook page for "I f'ing love science!" Staying barefoot as long as possible, even into the winter.

    FINALLY finished E25K for real!!!

Today, for the first time ever, I finally ran the FULL 30 minutes without stopping! Woohoo!!! It's been a long road, considering I started this whole crazy BF running thing in earnest back in January of this year. I ran fairly consistently up until we started getting the summer heat, then...

    Ready for winter running

In order to continue my new-found love for cycling through the winter, I picked up some winter cycling gear the other day during a 72% off Nashbar sale - got some lined tights, arm warmers, ear warmer, and lined skull cap for only about $40 total shipped. Well it looks like the tights and head...

    Altra Zero Drop footwear commercial

Just saw this commercial last night: While I agree that the zero drop and wide toe box are great things to have, I just can't get over the statement "connection lost between foot and ground - zero". *sigh* I guess they're just like all the other companies making "barefoot" shoe claims. If...
