    New barefoot 100km world record!!

Thanks, Tristan. So I couldn't find an ultra either so I just organized one on a local track :). And oddly enough I found it far more engaging that an 11 mile trail race I did 2 weeks prior. There's something really amazing, at least for me, about settling into a rhythm and just holding that.

    New barefoot 100km world record!!

I knew physically I'd be able to cover the distance, but my feet were definitely a concern. A few weeks leading up to the 100km I ran 20 miles on the track to see how it would feel on my feet and everything felt great, so that gave me a lot of confidence in making the jump. Plus, I'd already run...

New barefoot 100km world record!! By Teage Below is a race report from the Burly Burl, a race I made up to run as a fundraiser and forum to break the barefoot 100km world record. I'll be posting another reflection on the spirit of the event to the Crow's Path blog in the next week or so. Quick...

    World record attempt: 100k

Just wanted to post that I'll be attempting to set the 100km barefoot world record on August 13th here in Burlington, VT on UVM's track. If anyone is around and wants to join me for any of it, I'd love the company. I'm not doing this as part of an official race, just me and the oval (plus some...

    World record attempt

TrackLife Timing (www.TrackLifeTiming.com) is doing the timing. I'll check with Guinness and see what they have to say about what requirements they might have. And cool what Top Of Barefoot is attempting to do. Thanks for sharing that link.

    World record attempt

Thanks, TJ. I've been in touch with USATF and a timing company. The timing company said that the records for barefoot times were kept by TBRS, so thought I'd start here, but great suggestion about reaching out to Guinness.

    World record attempt

I've got a question about a potential attempt at the 100km barefoot world record. In looking into the issue for record attempts, IAAF and USATF have a pretty involved and complicated set of conditions that must be met for the attempt to be valid for records purposes. They don't recognize...

Building Foot Abs, an Unconventional Approach to Foot Injury

Interesting article. The weakness in the foot become so obvious when transitioning to barefoot running. It's like that first day of skiing each winter when you realize your body has all these unused muscles. I noticed that I was able to lightly jog in the beginning of transitioning but if I...

Cap City 1/2 Marathon, I finally broke 1:30!!

Great job! I was out there too and it was a crazy day! Crazy night before the race too with that thunder storm. I decided to race in shoes b/c I was worried about the wet ground ripping up my feet, so nice work.

Bobby Doyle 5 mile race report

Thanks, TJ & Dutchie, Definitely not beating myself up over this, but it's helpful for me to find ways of acknowledging where the frustrations and shortcomings were, fix or address any thing in my control, and then move on. I ran another race on Saturday that was much much better having spent...

Bobby Doyle 5 mile race report

Bobby Doyle 5 Mile Race Report By Teage Bobby Doyle was hot. It wasn't just a hot day, it was already hot and humid at 5am when I got up for a shakeout run. In college, my teammates and I would always go for a slow (10 minute pace) jog for 10 minutes about 4 hours before morning races. It...

    Bobby Doyle

I'm super excited to get back to racing in a couple of weeks (last race was in May). Last year I ran the Bobby Doyle 5 miler down in RI and actually saw another barefoot runner at the finish line! Will post a report afterwards.

    Barefoot bike pedals?

I know this is a super old topic, but thought I'd share my thoughts. I do a lot of riding barefoot and have filed down the plastic grips on one side of my pedals and leave the other side with the nubs in case I need traction and I'm wearing shoes. I have just basic plastic pedals. Some of the...

Ahead of Rio, barefoot runners re-enact ancient games

Awesome story. I spent some time in Greece and got to run on some of the old tracks. In particular the track at Delphi was amazing - a long wide open stretch of dirt surrounded by incredible stone work. Richard Mandell's First Modern Olympics is a pretty incredible account of the history of...
