    laying pipe

Well sure, how did you think you could lay pipe if you didn't have wood?

    Relaxation and bending knees

Er, why is the 10% rule golden? I think you are counter-marching against your own crusade. :)

    More surgery for me!

TJ, I'm sorry you had to go through this, but I'm glad you found an expert who sees things holistically. Best of luck to you. I can't wait to hear about a long, long series of successes that lead to a happy, comfortable, regular running pattern that you can sustain for years and years.

    Walking harder than running?

Yup, absolutely, but I've recently gotten much better at walking barefoot, and it's not as difficult as it first feels. But just as running barefoot can't be accomplished if you heel strike, the same is true for walking. You have to move forward over your stride and land very, very lightly on...

    Addiction

My wife does no more than roll her eyes at me. But, the other day I had some mocs on for a while and she said to me "Why aren't you barefoot?" So, I guess she notices.

    burgers: are they paleo?

Would a caveman know what phytates are? Aren't there less cultivated versions of legumes that our forebears would have eaten? For that matter, weren't there un-cultivated versions of grains that paleos would have eaten? I get that highly cultivated grain have tons and tons of carbohydrate -...

    Fat Pad Atrophy

The bottom of my feet are much thicker and more "padded" then they were before I began barefooting. I think it's about what your foot is subjected to.

Holy poop, I got a job!

Congratulations. My son (also 18) managed to get a Summer job this year and it has really changed him for the better - it's an amazing self-image and confidence changer. Do it as well as you can - the day when you think your attitude doesn't count might be the day that it counts most. But it...

    Vivobarefoot Ultras vs Neo?

I run in NEOs. My son runs in Ultras. The one thing you might not like about the Ultra is it won't last nearly as long. The NEO sole material wears like iron. The Ultra wears out fairly quickly.

    Now I'm stressed...

I've seen a similar thing happen to someone that had hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). Looked like they passed out and had a mild seizure. This might be more likely after hard exercise, particularly if you'd been eating badly. And I'm betting that you and your wonderful wife, and you kids, will...

    Questions about Blisters

Michele, here is a link to the "walk before you can run" blog post I was talking about. You might find it interesting. It talks about how to walk barefoot. http://thebarefootrunners.org/posts/73349/

    Questions about Blisters

I'd let them take care of themselves (i.e., not open them). If you've built up callouses, sometimes you can get a blister underneath them - leave it alone. Let it take care of itself. When that happened to me it indicated that I was increasing mileage/speed too quickly. I'm a year into this...

    Oscar Pistoruis - unfair advantage?

I dunno. I'd argue that he has to worry about health issues for his stumps, and for the un-natural stress placed on other joints (his stride doesn't look just like everyone else's). I think it's in the spirit of sport to let him run. If runners with prosthetics end up having an extra edge...
