Finally went into a store barefoot!

I shop barefoot and have NEVER had a problem. Of course, Amazon.com doesn't really care what I wear in my living room!o_O

    Why do you run?

When I run barefoot, for that brief moment in time, I feel like I'm 10 again. :barefoot: Life becomes simple and carefree. I just need more stamina so that feeling will last even longer!

He trekked 3,100 miles across the USA barefoot!!!!

As a Marine (1990-1997), I'd like to know how much he was able to raise for Semper Fund. I'd also like to know what his gear list was for the trip. Thanks.

I know what you mean Tristan. I did a 40 miler in NH last year and just getting way for a weekend seemed like a monumental task. I'm quite envious of my son as he get ready for his AT hike. 22, no bills, kids, or obligations...much smarter than I was at that age!

    Beginner program

I'm a huge fan of the Couch to 5K program (C25K). It is 9 weeks and progresses slowly from walk-run to run-walk to just run. I think it is a great transition program from shod to BFR. http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml Also available as a free app. When you're ready to jump...

    Annoying Article

I run barefoot for ME...no one else. If I cared about public opinion I'd still be shod. Truth is, it simply makes me feel better and I enjoy running again. I've recently gotten a following of several cross country runners from a local high school (my friend's son and his friends). I don't...

    Failure is the only option!

There is no such thing as failure...only winning and learning. I tend to do a lot more learning these days!

He trekked 3,100 miles across the USA barefoot!!!!

Jake is inspiring!! My 22 year old son is preparing for a thru hike on the Appalachian Trial (NOBO) going barefoot or in xeroshoes the entire 2200 miles. He is planning on setting out in March 2016; updates will follow. We'll be setting up a blog and way to track his progress as the date nears.

John, welcome! I'm a Xero Shoes convert as well. Very few minimal shoes will work after the freedom of Xeros. Next to barefoot, it is the closest you can come. I do use the Vivobarefoot for work (Gobi II and Ra II) but that's because they won't let me where sandals :(

Comment by 'Feetfree Mak' in 'Iowa PBS segment on Barefoot Running'

After shattering my 5th metatarsal in a training accident while on active duty in the military and spending 19 months in casts and braces, I was told I'd never run normal or frequently again. I was given a permanent medical profile authorizing me to run at my own pace and distance (in military...

    Feeling heelstrike on walking?

Like with running, I find most people take elongated strides when walking. Most of us have corrected that in our running (or will because our body makes us), but don't translate it to walking. Try shortening your stride, keeping your feet under your torso and not in front of your knees. May...

I've been a minimalist runner for years and just transitioned to totally BF (although I do use Xero Shoes during the summer...FL asphalt gets pretty hot!) I'm in Tampa and joined the Tampa Chapter as well. I run a company called Fishin' Rules (check us out: www.fishinrules.com) and teach at...
