    Form Modifications & Scuffed Toes

It really is tough to tweak technique whit protection...I have some Moc3s and Luna's but never wear them running because I don't feel comfortable with my technique yet

    Air Force: Basic Military Training

Five Fingers are fine for AF. I saw a video of a bunch of SERE guys training in five fingers. However during BMT you have to wear the issued shoes.

    Paleo - 2nd thoughts

I assume he is talking about Mark Sisson. He does sell a lot of supplements but he even says they are not necessary if you are eating properly

    Paleo - 2nd thoughts

Eating insects is something that would need to be done if we were going to "feed the world" on paleo. Lee, red meat is an excellent source of nutrients and fats it's just that we need to get organic grass fed beef to avoid the chemicals and excess omega-6s due to the animals being grain fed

    What can I eat?!?!?!?!

Bacon...lots of bacon...oh avocados too. Did I mention bacon? OK serious answer...most of those don't cause cancer...red meat can only if over cooked...otherwise non processes red meat is one of the most nutritious things to eat. Also... ...bacon

    Paleo - 2nd thoughts

No problem I honestly love being paleo. I feel great and food is always delicious. Sadly kind of broke right now though so can't afford to eat perfectly but I try the best I can. However I started back in February at 215 and I'm down to 162 now. Honestly have never felt better. When you get...

Took me 4 1/2 months to lose another 10 lbs.

Just work diet into...its really difficult to lose weight by exercise only...diet is how you lose weight

Took me 4 1/2 months to lose another 10 lbs.

That's great. Just keep at it! Back in January I started dieting...started at 215 as well. Been doing paleo and have lost a lot of fat so far but now my weight loss is slowing down. I haven't been exercising enough to be able to break 18% body fat...

    Paleo - 2nd thoughts

The length of time of the Carb flu varies in people...I luckily only went through it for only about 3 days and then weight dropped off fast but some can take 2-3 weeks. Thing is in that first month just really stick to it and eat a lot of veggies smothered in organic butter.

    Paleo - 2nd thoughts

Cut out the dark chocolate until you are actually settled into it. Sounds like your body still hasn't made to switch and you are probably going through the Carb flu

The 1st of many barefoot runs!

Rest at least one day but I'd do 2 just in case. Just cuz they feel fine doesn't mean they weren't beaten up. TMTS injuries sneak up on you.

    Ran my first race!

Thanks! I wasn't putting a focus on the time I was just really enjoying everything. I just like to set goals though. But I love puddles...I must look genuinely crazy to others when I go through them because I can tell I get a crazy grin on my face haha Doing another beach run the 17th...can't wait!

    Let's talk food...

I would say go paleo and really stick to it as best you can. For losing the weight track your food intake and limit the amount of calories as well but mainly try to eat less than 100g of carbs a day. I've been paleo since about February and have dropped from 215 to 163. Diet is most important...

    Ran my first race!

Right along the shore in the compacted sand...out and back course. It was low tide...smell was kind of bad near the start but close to the turn around I smelled BBQ from one of the beach houses...what I would of done for some BBQ and beer after that race but I stuck around for a little while...

    Ran my first race!

I have to say I wasn't really sure what to expect but went in with a good attitude and ended up loving it. It was a 5k along Clearwater Beach, FL. It was nice and cool with the sea breeze and the beautiful sunset. I didn't get tired like I thought I would just because I was really distracted by...

    burgers: are they paleo?

Studying hunter-gather tribes today they don't eat tubers more like just chew them so don't nearly get as many carbs. Studying all hunter gatherer tribes today they all got around 10-20% energy from carbs mostly from starches not fruit and about 50-60% energy from fat. Mostly from nuts, fatty...

    burgers: are they paleo?

    burgers: are they paleo?

They basically are just taught differently...Mark Sisson describes his method as primal and adds dairy and dark chocolate as well as supplements if you want. You are right about the dried fruit as well but when you lose a lot of the water you lose sugar too. I'm not saying go crazy on them just...

    burgers: are they paleo?

Nuts are good...can't go wrong with dried fruit or jerky either. Just don't go overboard on nuts because they are still high in phytates compared gram for gram to grains and legumes.
