First Half Marathon in DSM and Ran it Barefoot

Thanks! Yeah Nick, I was Thanks! Yeah Nick, I was wondering about that. The main chill that was bothering me was the running in a wet shirt part. I suppose trapping that moisture so close to the skin had a key role in the problem. I must say though that it felt too cold to be wearing just a...

First Half Marathon in DSM and Ran it Barefoot

Ran in the Des Moines, Iowa Half Marathon yesterday. This was my longest reace ever as I had only ran in 5 and 8k's before. I started out sticking with the 2:10 pacer for quite a while and realized that wasn't going to work for me after about 4 or 5 miles and began backing off to get my reart...

Nice run! Glad to hear you Nice run! Glad to hear you didn't rip your toe off... had me worried there. :-) Landing on the inside ball of my foot first was one of the best improvements I made after my first month. I too was landing forefoot but on the outside edge and rolling in. Barefoot...

    Altras

I just wear the front strap I just wear the front strap ULTRA loose and have no problem with rubbing. If you do snug it up though it would be a problem for sure. I like running in my Adam's without any insoles and I use the flat insoles for walking in them. I'm quite pleased with them so far.

    New longest run

Sorry to hear about the Sorry to hear about the setback Nick. I keep that front strap VERY loose... In fact, I set them at loose and then back them off another 1/4" inch looser yet. :-) I like them a lot. I use the flat insert for walking in them and no inserts for running.

Barefoot Walker from Iowa has joined

I must say... the barefoot on I must say... the barefoot on snow thing doesn't hold much interest to me. I see the value in barefoot running... I don't see the value of barefoot running on snow... I do see the value of staying warm and cozy when there's snow on the ground though. :-)

First Barefoot Trail Race - Timber Trek

First trail run.. and I ran it barefoot. Amana, Iowa Timber Trek. 4.89 mile "Adventure" run which started out early with a gate blocked by large hey bails followed by a creek crossing and then another crossing followed by a mud wall climb requiring ropes. Most of the trail was a timber type...
