My One Year BFR Anniversary By Paraganek

My One Year BFR AnniversaryBy Paraganek On June 23 2010, exactly one year ago I decided to ditch my shoes and went for my very first run barefoot. I only did 0.9...

    Pain on outside of ankle

Hi Lital, Because the pain is moving around, it is difficulty to give you a good answer. There is likely a problem at the joint between the fibula and talus, or between the talus and calcaneus. Since this pain has been around so long, and is severely limiting your mobility, my best advice is...

Do I just post what's going on?

In my opinion, doing yoga correctly shouldn't hurt you. It will help you strengthen and that is a good thing. Good luck!

Do I just post what's going on?

I'm dubious on the issue of "hypermobility". That's not a diagnosis and doesn't help you. Actual instability is something else entirely, but requires x-ray to really see and you would likely have neurological symptoms. As usual, internet doctoring is difficult because we only get a piece of...

Do I just post what's going on?

Hi Hula, Can I get clarification on a couple things before I give some thoughts? 1. Have you been running barefoot this whole time? 2. Where is your shin pain? 3. Is your current pain right on the spine, or along the sides? 4. When you say hypermobility, do you mean instability as measured...

Bulge inside the arch of both feet.

    Most likely.

Bulge inside the arch of both feet.

Good afternoon! My first assumption is that you have some swelling in the flexor tendons of the first toe. The pain is a little too far past the joint to be sesamoiditis. I would continue daily massage for now and take a rest from running until the pain subsides. If the problem worsens, get...

    Cramps in my toes

Outside of all the possible nutritional things that could be going on, pay attention to whether or not you are gripping with your toes as you run.

    Barefoot and inflammatory arthritis

Well, lots to address here, but I'll be brief. No. No, way. Just kidding, Wobbler. Welcome to the forum. Certainly there is a ton of anecdotal evidence that shows people with all kinds of damage can transition and successfully run barefoot. You already run, so you may as well learn to run...

    Shoulder pain

Hi skedaddle, With limited information, I would assume you would be ok to run. However, you and I both know that frozen shoulder can be a real problem for years at a time so I would suggest you present to your local chiropractor or physiotherapist and have it evaluated. Someone that is able...

    Ankle Issues

Sounds like tendonitis of the peroneal longus. Take a little more time to rest. While you are resting, work on the muscles of your legs with a rolling pin. Going after the muscles with your thumbs would be more specific, but is a little awkward on the outside of the lower leg where the...

GIVEAWAY!!!! - HOO-RAG - Expires Thursday, December 13, at Noon, EST

Cool! I was just thinking about digging out my balaclava last night as I was running in the cold. This looks a lot more user friendly than the one I have.

Sensation in hands - has anyone else experienced this?

Hi John, Sounds like you have a case of "Benign Crazy-handitis". My more professional thought would be that since you are hitting rough pavement, maybe you are squeezing your hands and running tense?

    Sesamoid pain?

Hi Jacobus. I commented briefly on your facebook post, but this additional information is helpful on which direction to take. I think at this point your next step needs to be some imaging, starting with x-ray. As to exactly what the floater is, that would be an exercise in guessing for now...

    Freiberg Infraction

I don't have any advice for you. I do have a question though. How old are you? Freiberg's occurs where there are fractures at the growth plate reducing blood flow to the distal end of the bone. From your picture, I'm guessing you are past that stage. If it can happen after the growth plate...

    Deer Ticks and Mosquitoes

Jim, You've answered part of your own question. Even after a deer tick bite, Lyme's isn't transferred immediately, and they don't bite immediately after landing on you. Make sure you or someone checks you out when you leave the woods and you should be ok. As far as DEET goes, you really...

Splotchy red marks on legs/feet after run?

Welcome Charles. I wouldn't be too concerned since it is going away quickly. Certainly if it starts to worsen or become painful get it checked out.

Left feet hurt when NOT running ?

Kim, Stress reactions can lead to more serious problems. Give it six weeks of no running to heal (I realize that will be difficult). When you start back, do it slow and you will be back to gliding over those trails soon! I doubt that orthotics are necessary.
