  1. Deadly Broken Glass Dilemma (2012 April) Ken Bob Saxton

When I was very young, I cut my foot open on a clamshell edge while walking in a lake, and the thing wouldn't stop gushing blood. So while it's true that there are natural materials that are just as dangerous as glass, that doesn't make glass safe, and it doesn't mean glass injuries will be...
  2. shoe suggestions

I didn't run a lot this winter, but when I did I used cheap water shoes. I was surprised how well they worked. It's at least worth trying -- if it works for you, you found a cheap solution. O/w, you're out $8 or so, not a big deal.
  3. The BFR Beginner

Getting tired isn't the main problem, and sore calves aren't too worrisome (though annoying, I know). But while you're working on form, you want to let your feet adjust slowly. Both the skin and the 'inside' structure. Running bf puts new stresses on your feet -- the landing, the flexion are...
  4. The BFR Beginner

Run one, walk one for 25-30 min means you were running bf for 12-15 minutes, which is probably 1+ miles even if it's a slow run. That's just too far when you're starting out, imo.
  5. Biodegradable shoe

    Concise! :D
  6. OK, so I did it...

My experience is like Mike's, though I wasn't running that much distance per run. I'd switch from bf to shoes partway through. It just takes so long to transition, you'd barely be running at all for weeks or months if you didn't add some mileage in shoes. I also noticed how much nicer it was...
  7. OK, so I did it...

I know you've heard it before, but go slow. Even if your feet are in better shape from running in huaraches, a blister can lay you up for a long time. But still, congrats!
  8. Saucony Hattori - Any thoughts?

FYI, Footlocker clearanced the Hattori for $20 in store (not online). Wish they had a 10, had to settle for a 10.5, but looking forward to trying them out. Edit: Forgot to give credit to larsky at slickdeals for pointing this out.
  9. Biodegradable shoe

Some videos posted by the company: http://www.youtube.com/user/01Monemoment Umm...okay... Very weird advertising. Interesting for the price, though, I'll be curious about the review, Andy.
  10. The reason why I stopped running barefoot ..

This is my experience -- some people are surprised, some are bemused, some are enthusiastic about it. No real heckling. But if you're in an area with college kids, well...you're gonna get some of those. In winter, I used cheap water socks from Sports Authority. They worked well, as much as...

The Invisible Shoe The Invisible Shoe instructions were pretty good. Luna Sandals also has useful instructions up: http://lunasandals.com/instructions The front (toe) hole should be small enough that it's a little difficult, at least at first, to get the lace through. It sounds like...

  16. Stem Natural Origins review

Posted already in Product Reviews, but here's the text: You could just read it here. But then you wouldn't see how many stars I gave it in various categories. Not so enticing now, is it? (That's what we call a "teaser".)
  17. Nike Free Run Shoes

There's still a lot of There's still a lot of padding, and the drop is too large. However, the sole is pretty flexible. The toe box is tough -- it's probably not big enough, but the upper is soft enough that I don't mind it much. Personally -- and this is jmo -- I still like mine, but I...
