I'm in such agreement about standup desks. I don't have a desk at work, I'm an I.T. Guy and work in a humming telco room full of routers, PCs and cardboard boxes. There's a big air exchanger that stands maybe four feet high, and I prop my laptop on it so my hands are reasonably at the same level...

Here's the link - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g1H67kGXAiQ&feature=fvst Jim Axelrod of CBS News, even after learning about and seeing and reporting on the compelling evidence about barefoot running, chooses to close his piece the way he does. Amazing. It's like doing a piece about the...

New barefoot runners, when were you able to run on consecutive days?

Eric, I found that when I let Eric, I found that when I let my heel come down on each stride, my calf and achilles pain went away practically overnight. You may be running up on your toes too much. Good luck!

New barefoot runners, when were you able to run on consecutive days?

I started running barefoot I started running barefoot (and at all, actually ) four months ago and only added a day a couple weeks ago. My mileage sounds similar to yours, and I did find the strain of that extra day challenging the first time, but got used to it. I now run 4 times a week if I...

So a barefoot guy walks into a running shoe store...

Thanks, all, for the Thanks, all, for the thoughtful and supportive commentary. I think John T hit the nail on the head... it was the fear of ridicule that started my weird head trip that day. It didn't help that the gangly teenager kid gave me the up-and-down-smirk reaction the minute I...

So a barefoot guy walks into a running shoe store...

I attended a question-and-answer session by the Ragnar Relay coordinators for the Florida Keys race in January, which I've commited to running in... HORRAY but that's not the reason for this post. I walked barefoot into a Fit2Run (a big box running store chain here in the US) and seemed to...

    Minimal casual/dress/business shoes.

I'm curious to hear your I'm curious to hear your review. Since ditching my shoes, I've felt tortured in my work shoes, which are as foot-coffin as they get. I need something leathery and business-casual, too. Looking forward to hearing your experience.

    Browser or Operating System?

    1)  I prefer Kubuntu to 1) I prefer Kubuntu to Ubuntu because I think KDE is a stronger, better supported desktop environment than Gnome, which I never liked anyway. 2) Not familiar with R, but I used to support SAS installations on AIX servers back in 1999. Heard of SPSS, but that's it...

Something that's been bothering me for the last week or so...WHY does Superman wear boots???!!!

This thread jogs my mind This thread jogs my mind about something I saw on TV the other day... and yes it's somewhat unrelated, but begs the same question. It was a show on America's space program and an entire segment was on the International Space Station. They showed a brief clip of one of...

    Running scared - thunderstorms

I posted this to my Dailymile account last week and thought it worth sharing here, as i'm curious who else has similar stories. I live in southwest Florida, land of brief but outrageously powerful thunderstorms. I call them land squalls, and I picked a doozy for my first rain run...
