    Hello from Norway

Usually, I run along the river. Lots of routes. Usually I run 5-12 km. Haven't run in shoes since end of april. I'm a typical recreational runner and cover 10k in 50-55 minutes.

    Hello from Norway

Jørgen. I live in Drammen as well. We should run sometime. Atm I'm slightly injured, though (real bummer that is). I think I did too much too soon despite being aware that I shouldn't. Another week, and I hope I'll be Ok. So Ted, right now I'm kinda frustrated. Well, lesson learned.

    Hello from Norway

Thanks, but wait for someone with a bit more experience to answer - I've only been at it for 6 months.

    Hello from Norway

Good Q, Jørgen. I haven't tested yet but believe lengthy runs are entirely possible down to 0 degrees centigrade, provided conditions are dry, one builds gradually and dress a bit warmer on the legs than a shod runner would. Above all, I'll listen to my body, esp regarding numbness. Remains...

My plan for my first races (10k & half marathon)

Bummer! Out of the blue I suddenly had a sharp pain in the outside of the left calf muscle. Had to break after only 5k and am now limping around the house with a painful lump in my calf. Seems like I won't be running the half marathon either. I did up my milage gradually, but should probably...

Toes on Roads Competition for September

I've added my mileage up till now. Just to inform you: The 'rank' row throws errors. I'm trying to get more fellow norwegians up and running (so to speak).

My plan for my first races (10k & half marathon)

This is not a BF question per se. Also, I'm a recreational runner. In other words, my training goal is not becoming faster, just finishing the half marathon in the most pleasurable way. I'll be running 10 k in a week and a half marathon precisely a week later. A week ago I ran 18k with...

    Entering my first races

Rofl, JosephTree! Can't bring myself to do that. Lutefisk (ie lye fish). Awful stuff.

    Entering my first races

Thanks for the advice. I've decided to drool while running, occasionally I might emit a high pitched joy squeel.

    Entering my first races

On the 13. 10 km and one week later half marathon. I'm very used to running by myself, and really enjoy being outside alone, running. So i'm curious as to how I'll feel surrounded be lots of people on runs. The 10k i'll do barefoot. It's a 50/50% gravel/asphalt route which I've run several...

Would you do true bare foot running with possible risk of elephantiasis?

Your question would be best answered by your country's health professionals I think. Elephantiasis is a symptom of a variety of inflammations, parasites, conditions etc. and, in your case, specific particles. Deeming asphalt safe in this particular case requires local professionals imo.

    People's reactions when you run

My neighbour just tells me to 'please be careful.' Boring, sensible advice ☺.

    Hello from Norway

I guess you're right, TJ. I'll remember to pay it forward. I'm slowly building up, and have been running 6-7km each of the last 3 days. 1 speed run and 2 slower trips. No pains except for a small sore spot on the outermost part of my right foot's ball. On gravel my feet told me to ease of...

What does your screen name mean?

Mine doesn't mean anything, at least I think so. Got it from a film with Bogart (the maltese falcon, perhaps) as a kid & thought it sounded cool.
