    I'm baaaaaccckkkk...

Not! Am I running barefoot? Thanks to a reoccurring injury since late October of 2015, no. But, I am eating a lot of chocolate. Oh well, I guess I will go back to looking at that curb that looks like a mountain.

Damn it...I jammed my toe coming in here again!

Son of a Bi&%$, that hurts.

    I'm done!

At least for a while. Piriformis issues on right side have aggravated my ITB and knee. I already took three weeks off starting just before Thanksgiving. I guess I should have taken six instead.

Guys (and gals) are you getting enough?

Why is it that every time I come in here I jam a toe?

TJ needs to leave the lights on! :)

    I'mmmm Baaaacckkk

Damn! I just stubbed my toe. But seriously, after gaining about 20 pounds over the last 12-16 months, I still managed to run around 930 miles for 2014. I have not a clue what 2015 brings. Anywho...

My post-run lunch - one step forward. Visit to local bakery to satisfy sweet-tooth - priceless!

Today's post-run lunch consisted of 2 range-free eggs (bought 'em from a friend yesterday), sauteed onions, mushrooms and kale, quinoa and black beans. Definitely a one-step forward lunch! But, I'm headed to the local bakery to satisfy a sweet tooth since it seems we are out of chocolate. More...

    The Boogie Races

Any race that has you sign a waiver that says I realize June in North Carolina is hot and humid.* Most people and doctors advise against running in heat and humidity. Also, running at night presents special problems such as seeing where you are stepping and watching out for cars. I...

Out of the mouth of babes. What are some of your kid's best comments?

Last night my 8-year old son asked me "Dad, is the internet always right?" With a a big smile on my face I replied "Why yes, yes it is". ;)

The good, the bad, the ugly of "Broken Hearts, Melted Chocolate & Dead Flowers Day"

The Good: My wife left for a business trip and won't return until Friday morning, so a simple free Valentine card will have to suffice. Oh, darn... The Bad: It's my wife's birthday on Friday. Payback for The Good. The Ugly: I have been tasked with the signing, sealing and delivering of at...

Ah, yes, what would the start of the year be without an injury?

I'm hoping it is minor, but I'm fairly certain I have a stress fracture on my left foot, 2nd toe next to big toe. Amazingly I have been able to run my normal 30+ mile weeks for the last month (started feeling it at the beginning of December). IF I can yank on that toe and get the met head to...

Who's gonna' run more than they did in 2011?

If I stopped today, I would not make the 1466.23 miles I ran in 2011 by 78.24 miles. Not bad considering I had eight months where I averaged 137.32 miles, three months averaging 71.78 miles and December ain't done yet. I have 14 days to run more than I did in 2011, but I don't run more than 4...

Dear Abby, is it bad if I have a "run spouse"?

Dear Abby, This morning I took my "swim spouse" who, since our pool is now closed is my "run spouse", for her birthday run of 6-8 miles (she ran 7.5 & I ran 6.82). My "real" spouse loves to hear our run gossip - like Wednesday's run when my "run spouse" and I had "oral" sex, as in she talked...

Anyone had luck treating injuries with portable ultra sound?

I'm looking for a different therapy other than my PVC pipe to treat injuries like reoccurring PF and tendonitis. Since these portable units can be had for under $200, has anyone had luck with them?
