Right, then...

So, I think I am turning a friend of mine off to BFR. She's always been rather skeptical about BFR despite the fact that my achilles tendonitis and knee soreness went away, but I felt I was holding my ground...then I went running yesterday. All I can figure is that either there was an uneven surface and/or I did not lift my right foot up high enough and I stubbed/dragged my big toe on the ground and took off about a dime size section of skin. To be honest, it looks nastier than it feels (it doesn't hurt at all). Anyway, so we all meet up today to go kayaking and she asks what happened and I - foolishly - told the truth. Her response was that based on my experiences, Nike is going to be selling her a lot more shoes. Oh, well - can't win them all, I reckon (she's more of a cyclist than a runner, anyway).

On a semi-related note, I've been using liquid bandage to cover the skinned area. I figured that it would form a more-or-less impermeable seal over the wound. I found out that was an incorrect assumption this morning as when I was making the bed, I noticed several round dabs of blood on my sheets. Good thing that today happened to be my quarterly sheet changing day, so no big deal...but if this would have happened tomorrow, things might have gotten nasty over the next three months.

It happens, but shoe wearers get even nastier blisters and abrasions.
Still, they'll never let you forget it.

I can relate. Was playing frisbee with the kids yesterday at my brothers and smoked my second toe (Morton's toe). It became quite swollen by the time we finished the game, and is a lovely purple and black today. Not sure if it is busted or not, but there's little value in getting it looked at. I didn't try to run on it this morning, but I'll give it a go tomorrow. Can't cause any additional harm I wouldn't think. Of course my wife goes "well, why were you playing frisbee in your barefeet?".

Can't really think of any sport that doesn't involve a few scrapes, bruises, or sore muscles. If she's turned off by BFR, then it's probably not for her. (Though cyclists get all sort of injuries that can involve road rash, stitches, staples, and concussions.)

this reminds me of last week....I was on a run and somehow a thistle stuck into the soft skin between my toes (just between my big and 2nd toe).....after a quick shake it didn't come out so I stopped and hurriedly pulled it out of my baby soft skin....I was having a great run and didn't want to stop.

I ended up pricking my finger while removing the thistle and my finger throbbed the whole rest of my run...My foot was okay though.....

...I guess I should have been wearing gloves :D.....stupid me

That's perfect!

ask her about nike's new knee and hip replacements she'll be needing with those shoes.

better yet ask her if she thinks man is a better engineer than god.
