Hey guys & gals!

I've been absent recently... Well for a couple of months or so; ever since I did this:

It was a pretty stupid accident - slipping on some wet stairs - and I wasn't even drunk! But it left me with three torn ligaments and absolutely no desire to read about everyone having fun and running without me. Anyway, I got back on my bike last month and have put away a couple of hundred kilometres so I decided I was ready for a run today. Went for a quick 3.5km around the block at a reasonable pace and will now give my ankle a day or so to decide if it's game for some more, but things feel positive.

As some of you might remember, I'm signed up for a 10km race through the centre of London on July 8th with my wife. It's a day after the Olympic flame is run through my town (Newmarket) and the whole city is going to be buzzing for the Olympics and it'll be my first race alongside my Mrs so I really can't stand to miss an event with that kind of atmosphere. If all seems fine with my ankle on Tuesday, I'm going to start pushing it a bit more and hopefully I'll be able to make it up to 10km in time (not going for times...!).

Anyway, just wanted to let you know what was going on with me =) What did I miss?!

Wow, that looks painful! Glad you are on the mends. Good luck with getting prepared for your race and have fun.

I was wondering where you'd got to. Apprently there's another BF runner in my village. Havn't managed to hook up with him yet though

Just to clarify; that picture was from 2 months ago! My foot is much better now and I've clocked 550km on my bike over the last 4 weeks. Really looking forward to the 10km and psyching myself up for it now. I was on the bike tonight, but I'll be running again tomorrow because my foot feels fine =) Thanks for the encouragement!

Pansy... Tis but a flesh wound!

Good to hear that its coming along well! Hope it heals up in time!

if you're not going for a time, should be fine, you can always slow down for a bit and then pick up again

Owwwww!

Welcome back! I'm sure you'll do great in your race.

Just to let you all know: I completed it! My calves were screaming like the first time I forefoot struck but I felt good otherwise. There were 30,000 other runners and I didn't cross the line 'til 15 mins after the gun so traffic in the first half was a massive issue (as you can see from the splits). Well that's my excuse for coming home in 55:36...! Here's the Nike official results: http://nike.thebritish10klondon.co.uk/findyourfriends/19582/

Thanks for the support guys!

were you barefoot?

I know of at least one other barefoot runner who came in in 51:xx so you weren't that far behind him.
