This seems like the logical place for this. :)

I am still very much a beginner and one thing I found amazingly useful has been pictures of other people soles at various points in the transition to BFR. I can easily ask if a certain blister is normal, but a picture is worth a thousand words, so it might be nice for those just starting out to know what they might run into. If for anything else just to know that they aren't the first person to get a blister there, or a scrape over there.

Maybe I am just a visual kind of guy, but I think this would be helpful.

P.S. I am currently at work so I can not yet offer up my soles for this cause. :barefoot:

Cool idea.

Here are my two trusty steeds after my first ever 5km race and first run above 3km. Prior to this I guess I'd done about 20km barefoot over a month or so, on pavement.

The race was 45% paved/Tarmac, 45% dirt trail, 10% gravel/clay grit.

Damage: left foot toe 4 lost skin, 2-3 small punctures from gravel, light scuffing on outside of 1st and 5th toes.

Check out Paraganek's before and after photos after 18 months of barefoot running. Can someone please find them and copy them here?

Found it.

Thanks for finding that picture for me, IA. Pretty cool transformation.

Dang, Chris, 4,000 miles?! Geez!

The picture of Paraganek's feet made me go completely unshod last February after a year of going minshod and barefoot. I still have a lot of work to do, but the progress has been great. I have noticed the biggest changes on the outside edges of my feet due to a lot of time in rough conditions. I'll try to post pictures soon, but I don't have any before pictures.

Not sure how these hot spots come about.

Also, I used to get blisters on the tips of my toes, but that no longer happens. I think if I were to record my gait I would see my feet twisting ever so slightly just before lift-up. The spot is MUCH worse on the right foot, I usually lose skin on my right foot every time I go out.

Also, notice I have facial hair, I have heard this is important if you plan to run trails and/or ultras.

facial hair gives the impression you are fast and will place. thus, my face is always shaved. the legs are hairy enough.

now that you mention so is the crack and cheeks. ;)

hey, you're the one busting out your phone to take pics while i piss.

Um...that would be far less traumatizing than a photo of your hairy butt crack!

You TWO get a room!

Lol!!!

Jen, I've just pinched your quote at the bottom of your posts to put on my facebook - hope you don't mind?!!!

Melanie :)

It's actually someone's on this site, I forget his online name. Awesome isn't it?

I don't check in for a few days and this turns into a hairy butt crack thread?

Nice pic Chris. The feet are impressive, but I noticed the 0 percent body fat on the calves. Nice.

Blisters or hot spots? Haven't had any since January, but I haven't pushed the pace or the distance.
