Mortifying question

yep that picture is a classic.....lol
I heard this one time, and my just be talking out my crapper (which would be appropriate for this occasion…lol), but when getting ready for an athletic event…I heard that the adrenaline tends to tell your body to expel waste in preparation. I know that before wrestling matches or races I found that I needed to go to the bathroom in all capacities just beforehand. Guess it would make sense naturally that they body would get rid of all excess crap in anticipation….
Don’t know though, maybe just a myth. Either way, seems pretty common.

I would like to return to the world I lived in two days ago, where I believed everyone woke up, took a dump--with or without a caffeinated accelerator--and then went about their business minus the messiness. Now I look at people and wonder if they're about ready to explode like that poor sonofabitch in the racing photo. My world will never be the same. I blame it all on barefoot running. I would gladly step on a rusty nail or shard of glass to rid my obsessive mind of that image.

Okay, as far as Jonny goes, there's always one in every crowd.

Thanks for resurrecting the one running photo that always scares the sh!t out of me, PR!

Same goes for peeing, Zetti. When I was in gymnastics, I always had to go before a routine, not just a meet.

Department of redundancy department! Ha! Classic.

And WTF happened to WTF Cat's ear?

I hate that pic of the guy crapping himself. Back when I was in the Army, we had a battalion run and a guy in another company up ahead of us crapped himself. It was horrible and we had to dodge his crap while staying in formation. I am actually glad I was a shoddie back then and didn't have to step my barefeet in it. shudders

Outgoing oncoming. ;)

There was some big splatters on the ground that we had to dodge... Apparently the guy had been drinking all night the night before so it was the runny alcohol craps. It was just a short little stretch and you could literally see the trail of where it started to where he ran out of formation and off to the side of the road. I feel sorry for the people that were in his immediate formation around him. They may not have been able to dodge that explosion....

Yep, it seems to be part of the "fight or flight" response. I've read bouncers and other fighters talking about the same thing.

I saw something similar at the memorial race. Dude was wearing Texas flag shorts... That's just not right. He went straight to the bathroom and washed them out in the sink. He cut a pretty fast time, but that sink was a no fly zone the rest of the day! You couldn't tell when he went up and got his medal, though... I felt for him.

Man, did this thread take a turd for the worst! ... You know what I mean!

Adrenaline may be part of the "potty response" but so is plain old anxiety. As in, before job interviews, public speaking, etc. For some people’s, er, rhythms, early morning, empty stomach running just might not work. I find I enjoy the run much better if I get up, drink a big glass of water, have my normal breakfast (granola) and then wait 45 min or so before running. I have more energy, and if I need to “back out a bolt” I’ll know it before I depart. Getting up and eating fruit and then running right away is a no-no for me. Bad combo.
