SanDiego was gorgeous, Marathons are hard and I wanna do another one!!
I expected to see more barefooters or at least Vibram wearers, but I saw no other Barefoot and I think we have more min-runners in Texas!
It took me 6hrs 21min in spite of being on track at the half with 2hrs 31min. My faster 2nd half did not happen! LOL! I got no blisters and my feet actually felt fine, but tired by the end. All the down hill in the race killed my quads, though. Getting on and off the toilet for the next few days sucked!! We walked around sea world the following day to loosen up. You could spot all is marathoners all over the park by our walk! Haha!

Being the only one Barefoot in a Kilt in the race made it pretty fun! I had several people ask to take my picture, more who didn't ask first, lots of people who wanted to talk to me about my feet and a surprising number who wanted to know what was under the kilt! Haha! I got to start and finish with my wife and although it was really hard, it was also a lot of fun. I have to do another to set a better time. Maybe in December... I'll post some pics when I get a sec.

congrats. this better not be all of the story. it's a premature journalition compared to your other reports.

Sweet! good job! Always good to hear about another barefooter making great strides in their running.

Barefoot Jonny!
Congratulations. I'm jealous.
I'm glad to hear the feet did so well. What was the surface like?
I hope someday to earn the title "Barefoot" in front of my name too.

Congratulations, Jonny! You've come along way. I knew you could do it!

Nice....every time I hear about this it provides inspiration!
Great 1st BF marathon Jonny! Looking forward to full report and pics :)

Thanks y'all!
A lot of the surface was tight rain groove and well worn chip seal, so really not bad. The rest was bike path and a few smaherings of nasty stuff I avoided by jumping over to the side walk till it got better.

If you'd asked me a year ago, I would have said there is no way I'd ever run a full, much less a barefoot one. Now, however, I think anyone could do it! I honestly couldn't have done it without the knowledge and support of this group! Thanks, TJ, SayPay, Mig, BF Gent, et al!

uh, your welcome. i am impressed you had the stamina and will power to do it. i don't have it in me, just yet. i get too much pain after a few miles. too many kinks i'm working out in my form keeps me from enjoying much past 6 miles. i have to stop to release the knots from the arches up to my IT band. i did do 9 last week and if i had more time felt like going for a half. that was awesome.

i'm impressed by you and others who can do those distances in a relatively short time.
