So, I'm officially o-w-t out :-(

I can't remember from the other threads...did you have an MRI as of yet?

yeah... I think this is the 3rd thread I'm posting it in, lol

Ouch!

Hope you can get some relief soon, all of you.

Welp, common sense (aka my wife) finally prevailed and I'm coming to terms with not running my ultra on the 12th. I've been dealing with a "pinched nerve" in my neck for going on eight weeks now, and am just too undertrained (not to mention a little blue and melancholic) to be running the event.

Damn :(
That is a major bummer willie! Get well man.

Yeah, that's what it was albeit a generic brand. It was 8 tablets the first day and quickly tapered down to one half of a tablet on the seventh day... didn't do nuthin'

Does your stuff respond to any oral meds? :-/ Mine laughed in the face or oral medications, all of them including strong narcotics. How long have you been dealing with this craziness...ya may want to consider the ESI. It sounds invasive and scary but it was the best thing for me, cortisone shot in the spot. Mine was done while I was sedated.

And I'm in pretty bad shape at the moment, really hurting and my arm falls asleep. Getting a little antsy now :(

I feel ya. I cant describe in words how much I know what you mean.

Just on a side note, how is Lennie coping with reduced excercise?

ah man, thank you for asking! Her name is Leni pronounced (LAY-knee, lol, and named at the time when Lena Meyer-Landrut was popular here, after she won the Eurovision Contest).

Anyway, yeah, it's kind of sad. Of course, she just accepts whatever comes her way, no complaints, but I can see her getting lazier, more used to inactivity. Been watching her diet, feeding her less than her usual.

AND - I'm on the road to recovery now, feeling better every day, although there's still a long way to go. I've got four different therapists working on me, plus doing my best to correct pretty much every contributing factor I can think of.

We'll see... got an appointment with a good sports-orthopedist on the 31st, gonna ask him to take an x-ray and compare it with the last one. I expect there'll be a visible improvement. Counting on it!

So... yeah, feeling better now WHEW! Good enough in fact to join up with a BF/MR team forming up to run the 24h of Munich race on the 6th/7th of June :D

Arm still falls asleep sometimes, but a little stretch and a quick shake of the head wakes it back up again. I have to start working on building up some muscle in the lat region now, very important, according to my main P/T. Still going for P/T and massage 3x times a week, plus an extra appointment with a sort of P/T who developped his own system, based apparently on the concept that big pain cures little pain, lol. I'm going to write more about that in the Med forum.

And I have an appointment with a good ortho on the 31st - I want to get another x-ray and compare it to the one from when this first started...

Was out for a nice trot through the woods with Leni yesterday - she loved it! :)

Willie can ya pass some of that get well dust down here pahleeze.

Well, the therapist with his own special methods I mentioned does a lot of work on my feet and lower legs/shins. He rubs hard, for example, across the tops of my feet and ankles until I get goose bumps on my chest and feel it in my finger tips (he's completely oblivious to my clenching teeth and banging on the table while he does it). He cracks my toes and pinches them till I start to sweat and tell him that I feel it my ears ... stuff like that. No fairy dust involved, lol. But it works.

The pinky toes are related to shoulder pain, btw.

The other stuff is basic P/T. They work a lot on my ribs and shoulder blades.

In your case, I think the main focus would be the hips/pelvis.

thats called reflexology right?.

um... that's certainly part of what he does, but he kind of picks up where other reflexology therapists leave off, lol. He says he wants the energy flow to go down the back side (right to the feet) and back up the front ... and he kind of opens the docks along the way.

I mean, I don't know what exactly he's after, but it works. He talks a lot about the nerve branches and lymph channels - and the way water and electricity react to one another .... bzzzzzzth
